Another season of bad defense. Brady will be forced to bail the team out by being the last to score.

Sonny Corleone is a bittersweet pick.A luxury pick on a team that practices RB by committee. NE really did not need Sonny, but at least Brady won't have to do it all on his own if this guy is that good. He won't be averaging 7 yards a carry in the major league I will garuntee you that.

Yeah, Rivers will be back. He is behind and basically a rookie. Hightower is getting up in years.

New England did not yet address its front seven.

Fair or not, Patriots' draft class will be judged by lack of high-end front-seven additions

Wait. You realize that you’re *****ing about us not going Defense in the draft, and at the same time *****ing that Rivers is coming back and is basically a rookie? They made two front 7 additions this offseason, what rookie would’ve beaten them out? Let’s say a potential 4 down lineman package looks like this:
Clayborn-Starting
Brown-Starting
Shelton-Starting
Flowers-Starting

Then you have some rotating pieces in Wise, Lee, Guy, Valentine & Butler. Those are all some pretty damn solid players. At LB you have HT, Van Noy, Rivers, Langi, Flowers, Roberts. So, again....what rookie where we picked would’ve come in and made an impact there at the position to pick where we were at? None of ‘em! You don’t think rookies can contribute (Rivers) remember?

I think the defense will be top five this year. Not drafting first round guys for d is certainly perplexing but not a bad thing. I hoped that they would draft like all defense. I believe there’s a plan in place to have a top flight defense.

Now it’s time for my medication

They have been top 5 the last 2 years and too 10 11 of the last 12.

What a week for me! They catch the EAR/ONS/GSK/VR - someone I've been fascinated with for years. And, I wake up Friday morning and see that they drafted an OL/RB from Georgia, and, none of the positions I would've expected. And, picked once last night.

Hightower just turned 28. You wanna say injury prone that’s a fair assessment. But age wise he’s in his prime.

That’s one reason I’m thinking that. The other is because they’ve pulled in a lot of players and replaced butler. There’s a prevailing odd thought process I’m seeing here lately. People, including myself, are upset about the lack of d picks. These same people mostly acknowledge that picks fail about half the time and agree that you can get great players in later rounds but are still angry about not getting first round d. Had to sort this out in my own head that the round drafted in doesn’t mean much and the thought process is not sensible.

Cut me a break. the Patriots finished 5th in the NFL in points allowed in 2017, one-tenth of a point behind the Eagles. They re-signed their guys, picked up DE Adrian Clayborn and DT Danny Shelton as FAs and have five more picks today. The secondary is excellent, especially with the additions of CBs McCourty and Dawson.

I agree that today should be defense and an obscure rookie QB who will make us forget that Tom Brady ever played here. (No pressure, Bill Belichick, the GM.)

Stop acting like this is Cleveland or Indianapolis who couldn't stop Mitch McConnell from scoring no matter how hard they tried.

McConnell is pretty good at faking his opponent (the American people).

The secondary is already excellent and the Dukester and the Mcourty brother hasn't played a snap yet. This defense was abysmal in 2017. Good defenses do not disappear in crunch time. They were same lucky the Pitt TE juggled the ball. The Eagles went up and down the field on this defense. You can point out silver linings all you want but they were bad.

2017 NE defense ranked 31st pet Football Outsiders.

It’s silly to count injured players coming back as additions since we’re likely to lose different players due to injury because of the nature of the sport. And the most important guy coming back, Hightower, is a chronic injury risk already.

Rivers has shown what? Nothing and.all the smoke and mirror guys have him as stud. Facts remain. Rivers is 1 year behind in development. He has not faced the rigors of a 16 game NFL season.

Brown is a disappointment and has not liked up to his billing. That is why Shelton is here. I have high hopes for him, but that's it.

The pass rush is still a huge question mark and its riding on Rivers and Clayborn
I would have to have seen a LB at 31 instead of Sony. You saw what happened after Hightower got hurt.

Easy to be in the top 5 in points allowed when you get to face the Bills, Jets, and Fins 6 times per year.

(Bracing for impact)

Stop telling the truth and have more kool aid.
