what?...is this true?

RIP Gil Santos, THE voice of Boston sports in my youth and the true voice of Patriots Nation. Loved that man, he and Gino both legends. Gil Santos, Bob Wilson, Curt Gowdy/Ned Martin, Johnny Most...man we had some incredible play by play guys in Boston for a lot of years.

God bless his memory and sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

We loved him as the Pats play by play man because he was one of us, a fan of the team like us, knowledgeable but humble and understated. He didn’t need some phony act to convince us he knew his stuff.

The Super Bowl call, which I just heard again for the millionth time, gives me chills every time because his emotions matched mine: absolute elation mixed with disbelief. Disbelief that this team that had always found the weirdest ways to fail, and seemed to be finding a new one that night. And then Brady, J.R. Redmond, Troy Brown, Wiggy, and Adam V. happened.

All of a sudden it’s very dusty where I am ...

RIP Gil, that winning Super Bowl call gives me absolute goosebumps every time I hear it. And the kick is....good!!! It’s good!!! The patriots are champions, the patriots are Super Bowl champions. Sad day losing a New England legend.

RIP Gil ... you brought joy to many.

His voice usually gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

On BST earlier this evening, one of the guests said that right after his call at the end of SB XXXVI Gil was crying with joy. Must have been a great moment.

CLASS personified. RIP

Condolences to his family. RIP Gil, voice of the Patriots.

This one is tough. I listened to a lot of games in high school and during Bledsoe's rise, there were some incredible moments and his ability to make you see what was happening on the field with his voice was just amazing. Those broadcasts certainly played a part in inspiring me to even do this to begin with, and I can honestly say that the site might not have come to be had it not been for the emotions and excitement I felt during many of those calls. Needless to say, tonight is definitely a gut punch :(
