Adam Schefter: Brady not yet committed to playing in 2018

This isn’t news. At all. Since when does Brady commit to playing each season? He hasn’t said anything either way. Why would he? He will show up when it’s time for him to show up, and will start flinging that rock around. I’m not a bit worried about Brady this season. Hell, the only reason why I am concerned about Gronk and give any credence to the reports about him is because of what he said at the podium after the Super Bowl. Brady hasn’t said anything direct like that.

I said at the time it was a huge franchise altering mistake. if he retires this year or next he is f--king over the pats. before Jimmy g he was playing till he's 45. after the trade its I don't know if I'm playing. unbelievable.

Yeah it’s probably true that the patriots would have been better off over the next 15 years if they kept jimmy. But Brady playing at an MVP level complicated all of that. There’s ways to win without elite QB play but you better be able the run and play great defense

Notice the shift in direction from him since the Super Bowl? He knows that **** was rigged and the game thrown on purpose. No wonder him, Gronk, and Amendola are pissed.
I find comments about Amendola leaving - including Gronk's "BE FREE!" comment - pretty silly.

Amendola wishes he were here, and he would have gladly re-signed here had the money been equivalent.

Absolutely correct. The man whose legacy is on the line, who has coached in nearly 20% of every Super Bowl, who had a chance to tie Pittsburgh for the most Super Bowl victories and have done it in just 18 years, and would have been the only head coach with 6 rings, and only NFL participant with 8 rings -- this man here, intentionally lost the Super Bowl because he wanted to prove a point. Yeah, that sounds right.

Why would he want to play for a coach who sabotaged his own team? Notice in the sound fx and all the stuff that shows the game during the sideline, it was mainly the assistants coaching? Where was Bill coaching up the team like he was in 49 and 51? Oh that’s right he was just standing close to the field watching. Not even trying to get in refs heads like he usually does

Maybe he didn’t want to throw it, but he sure as hell was told to. Also doesn’t help they gave the garbage eagles 3 free touchdowns

That's because Schefter is the most credible reporter in the business, bar none. It tells you how bad ESPN is when the have both Schefter and Reiss yet most of us still avoid them like the plague.

This is real. It sucks and I don't want it to be real, but not wanting it to be real won't magically make it not real.

Why would he want to play for the best coach in NFL history and the best QB in history? Oh, gee, I dunno.........:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Brady should be irrelevant in the discussion. If he's thinking of moving on (which he clearly is although maybe not right now) then they need to move on from him in their mind and draft a long term guy regardless of how Brady feels about it. If Brady wants the Patriots to commit to him then he needs to commit to them.

I know this is knee jerk and I am in the super minority but screw it, the rebuild has to start sometime. Thank you Brady and Gronk for being part of the best run in NFL history. Maybe it is time to join the real world like the rest of the league.

Trade Brady for a top 10 pick plus some later round picks <-- take a QB
Trade Gronk for a #1 next year plus some later round picks

Give it a try, see what happens.

For those who say the GOAT can't be traded, I lived in Edmonton when Gretzky was traded.. they can all be traded.

Assuming Tom plays and they stay put and use a 1st or 2nd on a QB, I wonder if they would consider a double dip with Kanoff (or pick your late round flier of choice) as a late pick. With a deep class and most teams in need of a QB likely to take one to develop at some point, it may be easier to get him to the practice squad if neither QB shows well enough to unseat Hoyer right away. If one of them shows well, keep The 2 rookies behind Brady.
An additional spin at the QB roulette wheel never hurt anyone. We double dip at positional groups of need all the time... qb is a bit of a different animal than other positions, but it may be time to do so.

Hannable wrote about this possibility a few days ago. I think it's possible that they take two QBs after the first round.

I think they are staying put or trading down. And I'm going to make a wild prediction - I think they will select Luke Falk.

Interesting analogy... so........ how did things work out for Edmonton after Gretzky left?

Is he really going to **** Kraft over like that? I don't think so.

You have reached a new level with this idiotic post.

If the team sucks next year and kraft told bill to trade jimmy and keep tom then bob.

If bill traded jimmy on his own and missed all the signs tom was going to hang it up then bill.

In tom told bill and bob he was coming back this year and gave assurances which justified trading jimmy then i blame tom for going back on his word (which is his right but leaves the team in a less than optimal spot.)

Throwing the ball around with Jules is a good sign but Shefty has pretty good intel.....he also covers his tracks well when hes wrong.

It's very interesting that this report came from Schefter. Makes me wonder whether this is a Patriots / BB source trying to apply a little heat to Brady to get him into camp and start tamping down all of the persistent rumors floating around about Brady/Gronk/Guerrero/Belichick all having hurt feelings and not liking this or not liking that.

Having followed the BB era Patriots over the years, I'd guess that BB seriously wants to turn the page on the drama from last season and move forward with the 2018/19 team, so it would probably make sense for him to try and get the locker room in order.

Should of traded him and kept Jimmy G thats my thought then and thoughts now.
Now we are scramblimg to find a heir and we had one and San fran got him for a fricking second.
OR, at least tell BB and Kraft that he had thought of or contemplated retiring, that would have been a factor in whether or not to keep Jimmy G. Now the pats may have only a year to aquire his replacement.
