Jesus...Chung is one of the league best in the role he plays. We are as much stuck with him as we are stuck with Edelman, Gilmore or Slater.
I just don't see the need to extend him now, and reducing our available salary cap space, before waiting to see how the up-coming season plays out. Perhaps he reaches the proverbial cliff.

who are you referring to?

No biggie. RJF was reportedly in negotiations to sign with the Lions. They apparently signed Williams instead. Had they signed RJF, that would've been another UFA lost by the Pats and, hypothetically, another comp pick credit.

They signed rjf
I'm not sure if they have. A couple of sites I regularly visit for this type of information have not shown him on their roster.

No sh*t but i was critical of him until he started putting it together in the playoffs. He started clicking with brady. I expect another 1000 yard season next year barring injury. He might be more consistent as well from game to game. He's still a young guy. Our wrs are getting old. Mitchell has a lot to prove come coming back from injury. The offense will be fine but this defense has to get better.

I am not sure I remember him clicking with Brady in the playoffs anymore than in the regular season. He was a non-factor against the Titans, became a point of emphasis against the Jaguars after Gronk went out and then was an idiot who jumped into an defender and concussed himself out of the game in the SB.

I am not saying he had bad playoffs but I dont see any big difference over those 3 games to the regular season. Not sure where you saw him "click".

And just to point this out.. you are talking to a person who doesn't want him traded because I am curious to see how he does with another full offseason here.

However, If Cooks was willing to sign an extension with whatever team he was traded to, then he'd be worth a first.

From my point of view I dont think exclusive negotiation rights are worth a first round pick (and a player under cost control for 5 years). But your mileage may vary...

No I am valuing him as the player he is. Best tight end in the league. You not trading for jimmy graham here.

Again, how YOU value Gronk is in completely different realm from the best offer the Pats are likely to get for him from other teams.

Chung's extension resulted in no change to the Pats' 2018 cap space.

Several sites I regularly visit have been lagging on roster updates recently.

IIRC, my post was a tweet from the Lions official account announcing the signing of Williams. I'll go back and check, though.

Week-3, Texans. Cooks caught 5 of 7 tgts (71.4% catch rate) for 131 yards (26.2 YPC) and two TDs. Seemed like he was "clicking" a bit there.

Another big step in "changing the culture" (in the petri dish) ...

Yeah, something is better than nothing...but no Gronk = me being sad enough that I don't care about what we get.

Wasn’t there an issue about osweiler being brought up in this thread?

I thought there was an exemption for Osweilering incidents involving one of the Pats divisional foes.

Ohh Ohh Eagles. Speaking of Issues, Michael Bennett has struck again. Says indictment. The Eagles are gulping. Pushing some elderly lady (money grab?). No word if she was in a coma from a push in SB 51. Yeesh.
