Someone on Reddit grabbed a screenshot of Garcia's story. I assume this is legit. If not, well, then I fit right in with Boston media rushing to break a story without verifying sources. ;)

Obviously a long shot to win a starting job, but another challenger in the mix is a good thing. Let Scar work his magic and we'll see what happens. Beyond that, just good to see he's recovered!

Antonio Garcia should get a free pass to any all you can eat Buffet of his choice up until TC.:D He needs to be at least 290 by then good news indeed. Maybe that's why BB is so casual at the position of Need in FA. We have to think another Swing Tackle via the Draft is another possibility. That said I would like LA Waddle back he's a solid RT when healthy and a ok LT in the pinch.

Great news. If healthy he's the guy

They had him through OTA’s and a portion of camp before he left in early August if memory serves. If he made a good impression then, and now it is just a matter of getting weight up, the key issue to me is what portion of the weight gain needs to be muscle versus donuts and pizza.
Regardless, 6 months with a pro strength and conditioning coupled with diet should be a solid amount of time to prep for camp (I believe he started working out in January-ish). Hopefully the weight needed is more of the pizza and donut variety as that should come quicker than the muscle variety... as I can sadly attest.

I don't remember him making much of an impression. Then again, if you don't notice an OL-man....it means they are doing their job.

I am not concerned about his weight/strength myself. That can be fixed...only a question of time.

I am more concerned as to whether he can actually play in the NFL and keep Brady's jersey clean.....we still don't know that. It is one thing to o thru OTA's and Camp.....another to play in a preseason game...and wholly another to play in a regular season game with guys like Campbell rushing off the edge.......

He went out fairly early so strong start is relative. But he showed some ability and some "nasty". I have no idea how much good weight and strength can be put on in 4 months (training camp), 5.5 months (start of season) or 7-8 months (mid season if he's PUPed) but he has some time, hope for the best.

For a nose tackle in a 3-4 alignment, the ratio is 2 pounds from doughnuts and 1 pound from pizza for every pound of muscle that is put on. For an offensive tackle the ratio is reversed.

I wonder if he can start supervised conditioning at Gillette before mid-April?

Got any links regarding the bolded above? I'd love to see where the 'assessment' came from....

And as for weight....as someone alluded to above....the donuts/pizza type...EASY!!! Hell, I gain 5 lbs. after a weekend of binge drinking.....:( But the muscle type....it is possible to do a massive weight gain in 6-7 months of maybe 10-15lbs. of muscle...the average male can put on about half a pound of muscle in a week working out in the weight room (or 2 lbs. a month)...but this is a NFL player with access to world class trainers and nutrition.....

Assuming Garcia is hitting the weight room today and that he was as low as 250lbs....I think he can get back to 290 by late August.....with about 10-15 of it being muscles...he'll have to eat a lot though........especially protein man...
