This wouldn't bode well for Matt Slater's return

Sadly with or without Easley between the new contracts already given and trades made it seems the writing is on the wall. Still, it isn't over until until he is signed elsewhere. I'd like to think there might be a number that works for both sides and provided another team doesn't best it he might back. But that's the fan in me that appreciates his leadership and enjoys his interviews more so than the realist that sees a 32 year old that has missed 10 games the past 2 years.

Much cheaper than I would have thought; for that price, I guess Belichick just doesn't think he's a good player for their system, which surprises me a bit.

It's weird to see him on a one year deal. Those are typically for players that want to rehab their value after an injury or decline in performance, not guys who have played in 97% of the team's defensive snaps over a 4 year span.

I think that an inside linebacker is similar to a bruising running back....a dime a dozen these days...

Ya think?

No, I know. ;)

In light of what's gone on even an outfit as numb as the Cowgirls has been forced to reassess their view. It wasn't all that long ago Dez's number was going to get him cut but there he still is, suddenly a bargain from where they sit. What I can't help but wonder is if this ridiculous trend of letting the tail wag the dog in terms of % of the cap the position consumes will come crashing down within a year or two. Since outside of maybe RB no position is so easily replenished via inexpensive draft picks it just defies all logic to let it continue Particularly as, unlike other positions, the changes in the college game has them pumping out more of them ready to play than ever before.

Neither do I, but the name seemed kinda cool.

Edit: No relation to Amani Toomer, AFAIK.

with all these c list WR's getting huge deals I'm curious who the cooks haters are expecting the patriots to sign and for how much.

Brandin Cooks just got waaay more expensive.
Trade the beast for a second if we can.
Try to draft a good receiver on a rookie contract.

I'm really starting to wonder if Cooks is not long for this team.

The average of the top 5 WRs is $74m, $15m aav and $35.5 in guarantees.

BB paying this kind of cash for a WR would be unprecedented.

personally I think people have it backwards when trying to apply the WR market to Cooks. If anything this booming market makes a Franchise tag next year seem more realistic. 8 MIL this 16 MIL next year 2 year 24 MIL is still a bargain in this market. Maybe we can use this to leverage a long term deal. If not take it year to year. But my point is we have options beyond watching him walk for the next ridiculous wr contract.
