NE trades for WR/KR Patterson !

Patterson will be our #5 WR (with one of the others being inactive each week), His receiving stats are similar to those of Hogan.

Considering last year's active roster, Patterson replaces both Amendola and a ST gunner, saving an active roster spot (and also a spot on the 53).
His receiving stats really aren’t similar to Hogan at all.

Let's just get him in camp and see what he can do before we start annointing him a failure at wr.

It's a interesting trade and he brings a lot in 2 phases of the kicking game as well as a great end around/gadget runs. Looking forward to see him working with McDaniels and Brady/crew. If he can just get proficient at a select route tree it makes him a dangerous receiver and helps others get free.

I'm going to wait to see who we get for LT, but if we go into the season with Waddle there? I'm going to say, I'd trade Patterson and his $3.25m hit to the cap, plus the flip of picks with the Raiders, for the opportunity to pay Solder $3m more this year than we offered.
Doesn’t work that way.

I just watched some highlights. He looks fast, elusive and hard to tackle. If he can get good field position and a few run backs plus be a threat on the other side. Woo hoo!

Very happy about this move. Gives us a dynamic special teamer and another offensive prospect. Good value trade.

Looks like he does most of his damage on offense with jet sweeps and wr screens........ how, oh, how will he fit into an offense run by Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels? :(

Having a guy like that in a bunch formation is basically its own play action.

They’ll figure out a way to use the guy. He looks like a tall and fast person. I’m starting to see the plan and I’m liking it

Calling him similar to Hogan is just wrong. Hogan is a real NFL receiver. Patterson is a gadget guy who is fast.
sigh

We will have Edelman, Cooks, and Hogan/Mitchell (with the other being inactive. Josh is free to use Patterson as an additional threat, as our 4th WR threat.

Last year, we had Cooks, Hogan and Dorsett. Amendola was used as the additional WR threat.

I like our 2018 situation much better. If we don't use Patterson unless there is an injury, that's fine too.

I don't get the move. Where's he gonna play? Special teams? This could use that money on someone on the defensive side of the ball.
He's gonna contribute big time on special teams, and have a handful of meaningful snaps on offense per game, if he makes the team (which I believe he will) unlike our other special teams guys this one can contribute in other areas as well.
