Brady and Gronk - Do They Care About The Money Being Given?

TOM BRADY is only worthy or a MODERATE BASE with performance and roster bonuses?

So if you are B.B. and he walks in and says I’m playing 4 more years and I want 4 yrs 100 mill 50 guaranteed or I retire you say been nice knowing you?
Well, first of all if I'm BB I really don't care how long Tom says he's playing....

What I do care about is what's best for the team . If Tom wants $50m his first two years then how does that impact the roster ?

Andy the crux of the discussion between you and I is I really don't know what your position really is.

My singular issues are not paying a $20m cap charge when Tom is 44 or 45.

That's it.
You just said he only deserves a moderate salary with performance bonuses.

Why you think there is a 20 mill dead money in 4 or 5 years I don’t know but how you think no brady is better than that worst case boggles my mind.

My position is brady is the best QB in the nfl and if you need to pay him like it, you do it.

You are avoiding the question. Again.

But also shocking you would have no interest in knowing the GOATS plans.

Within reason

Again, Tom's plans are important, but when it comes to the cap, the team's considerations are more important

You just said if you are belichick you don’t care how long brady wants to play.

What considerations?
You seem to be saying that avoiding a dead money hit 4 years from now is more important than having 3-4 more years of brady.

I’m out. You seem to be having a bad day and are just throwing a bunch of cryptic non responsive comments around and we are monopolizing a three and getting nowhere.

Which brings us back to you saying you wouldn’t give him 2 years at 25 mill guaranteed when Kirk freaking cousins just got 3@28.
I don't care what Cousins got. He was a FA.

Tom is under contract two more years.

And could retire tomorrow if he wants to be paid his worth and the team won’t.

Do what you wish.

I leave this debate thinking you struggle with risk management.

Tom is under contract for two more years at a very reasonable cap hit.

To remind you....he signed the deal.

And could retire tomorrow if he wants to be paid his worth and the team won’t.
...and he'd still be under team control

They've won all these championships because Tom wasn't Peyton but now you want him to be?

What is wrong with you?

Cap number is $22M.
Brady will receive $15M to play in 2018.

How much the team chose to defer in counting the cap isn't relevant to Brady.

So is mine.

Answer this

If brady walks in and says I’ve taken one for the team all these years and these crappy QBs are getting almost double what I am. I will play 4 more years, you know I can, and I want 100 mill and half of it guaranteed. If not I retire.
What does B.B. say?
Or even, I want $50M for a 2-year extension, with all monies guaranteed.

Risk management? Such as the risk of having no GOAT?
You are the one who says you wouldn’t pay him 75% of his market value.

Didn’t say I want him to be.
I said COUNTERING YOUR CLAIM that you would never give him 2 years at 25 mill guaranteed that you certainly would if that’s what it took to keep him playing.

Or even, I want $50M for a 2-year extension, with all monies guaranteed.
But that’s where you would work on the terms of the deal. But even if you guarantee it all if he retires he doesn’t get the money.

Tom is still under contract. Thats why I said that.

Deserve has nothing to do with it

If he had a low cap charge at 44 sure

ONE EXAMPLE (current contract plus $50M for 2 years)

CURRENT
$15M +$7M old bonus = $22M for both 2018 and 2019
New money = $30M all guaranteed

NEW
New money must equal $80M (2 yr/$50M extension)
2018 bonus = $16M
2019 bonus = $24M
salaries = $3M, $3M, $15M, $19M
2018 and 2019 salaries guaranteed ($36M)
2020 salary guaranteed at the beginning of the 2019 season
2021 salary guaranteed at the beginning of the 2020 season

NEW CASH
2018 = $19M ($3M + $16M)
2019 = $27M ($3M + $24M)
2020 = $15M
2021 = $19M

CAP
2018 = $14M ($7M + $4M + $3M) cap savings of $8M
2019 = $22M ($7M + $4M + $8M + $3M) no cap savings
2020 = $27M ($4M + $8M + $15M)
2021 = $31M ($4M + $8M + $19M)

When he does something to get his cap number down then I'll agree. That's the norm for him. Until then I think he's trying to stick it to BB as some kind of power play.

I have no idea. That's not Brady's MO though. I do think the entire team had to deal with losing the Super Bowl. Personally I don't care too much about the soap opera bs. "Did Brady finally have enough........will Gronk play another game in a Pats uniform........has BB finally gone over the edge......will they finally put avocado ice cream on the Patriot's lunch room menu.......you'll find out on the next episode of as the Patriots Turn". Cue the music. I just follow the transactions, the trades, the signings and the draft and see what they have at the beginning of training camp. Everything else is too gossipy for me or maybe I should say I'm not going to have much of an opinion about a player one way or another because of speculation or gossip. Anyway it is what it is. I'm excited about the latest signings and can't wait for the start of TC to see how they work out.
