Jets just traded for #3 overall

Whomever they get will be in a decent spot. If they're not ready, McCown or Bridewater can play.

If the Jets are smart about it, the QB they take with the pick won't see any real game action in the 2018 season.

I don't know about that. Rosen may be ready right away.

I say don't rush it, but if he's ready, no reason to hold him back.

No pressure one way or the other.

NFL Draft Value Chart
www.walterfootball.com/draftchart.php

3rd - 2,200
6th - 1,600
37th - 530
49th - 410

The 6th, 37th, 49th add up to 2540. That does not even include a 2019 2nd round selection.

Jets acquire No. 3 overall pick of 2018 draft from Colts

Then again, this is a shambolic football organization that selected tight end Kyle Brady over defensive tackle Warren Sapp in the 1995 NFL Draft.
BUF would have needed to do:
12 (1,200) + 22 (780) + 53 (370) + 56 (340)
to get to 2,590 i.e. a slightly better offer.

So BUF would have had to wipe out their 1st and 2nd rounds of this draft to get to #3.

I think they should have, because #12 isn't likely to be a game changer, and BUF needs a QB at least as bad as does NYJ, DEN, CLE, NYG, ARZ.

I said it last year and I will say it again now. Rosen is the most mechanically sound qb in this draft and probably the best since luck came out.

His accuracy and decision making are head and shoulders above most starters in the nfl today.

He is the real deal. A year with Bates before seeing the field and he should be a beast. It would be very smart for the jets to land him.

Darnuad, allen, mayfield and Rudolph are modern day Blaine gabbards.

He does look really good.

:confused:o_O No, it will be an incredibly ambiguous spot.

"If they're not ready"?! :D What the hell difference will THAT make? Can you actually imagine the rookie starting ahead of the two veterans? Can you say, "quarterback controversy"?

The Jete QB clusterf*ck already is well under way with the signing of Bilgewater. He'll fight it out with McClown for the starting job with no clear winner emerging while fans will be impatient to see the rookie savior take over. It'll be a first-class mess, bank on it. The only sane approach would've been to name McClown the starter and bring back either Pity or Quackenbush to join the rookie savior. But no. This franchise has an inherent aversion to winning. You'd better hope Bilgewater doesn't make the team.

If what you're saying is true, he won't last to No. 3.

No.

When it's for a QB, those numbers mean nothing.
As much as it sickens me to agree with the forum doofus, JF79 is right. It is silly to take draft value numbers (which I believe are older than the current draft format of slotted salaries) and make them the gospel truth for every season, every draft.

I’ll say the same thing I say whenever a trade like this is made: no price is too high for a franchise QB. However, get back to me in 4 years to see if the selection made is indeed a franchise QB. I don’t think Bradford or Darnold fit the bill.

wow 3 2nds for moving up 3 spots..they better get their guy and their guy better be good....or typical jits

The Breer article makes it clear, the GM and his staff was gone if he didn't find a way to bring a big-name (rookie or free-agent) QB to the Jete. They even spoke to CLE about getting the #1. So, no one in the building is thinking beyond getting a big-name QB this season. Since they wiffed on Cousins, that QB now has to come from the draft. Personally, I'm glad I don't work for a dry cleaner near Florham Park.

Thing is, it's the Jete making the pick. Chances are they'll pick the wrong guy. Chances are they'll screw up his development. Chances are they won't be able to put a good line or good receivers around him because they've over-drafted on the D side for at least a decade now and Blowes is a D minded coach. So many things have to go right for them to crawl out of the hole they've made for themselves.

I'm personally looking forward to the Jete throwing away a ton of assets again so they can draft another bust QB from USC.

I can imagine a scenario where Bilgewater (who still is young) plays well enough to get the nod and sticks for years while the team's overall development is slowed, in part, by losing the three second-rounders with this year's first-round savior languishing on the bench. End result: more Jete purgatory at 8-8, 7-9, etc. Reaching for a rookie franchise QB is such a crapshoot, something the Jete already know firsthand.

Wouldn’t it be funny if we grabbed Lamar Jackson at the end of r1 and he turned out to be the best qb in this class?

Then theres the NY media and fans that will christen who ever they pick as the new savior, and the second he falters they'll destroy him.
