Ten years is a solid run, and good to see him retire. He took a lot of punishment, including some scary concussions.

Best wishes to him. May he enjoy his retirement.

Saw two news stories yesterday and interested how they were tragically interwoven. Woodhead was signed by the Jets (2009) but cut after training camp in 2010 even though he outplayed the Jets' 4th round draft pick Joe McKnight. Rex couldn't admit a mistake so he cut Woodhead and kept McKnight who would be out of the league in a few years while Danny totally nearly 5000 yds receiving an rushing..
On the day Danny retired, McKnight's killer was sentenced to 30 years in jail for killing McKnight in a road rage incident.......

I will never forget when Patrick Chung was on Toucher and Rich, and you could hear Chung's young son in the background. One of the hosts heard the young child talking to his dad and added "Oh, you got Danny Woodhead there." I nearly spit out my iced coffee whilst laughing.

Danny Woodhead announces retirement after 10 years
He was quickly acquired by the New England Patriots, where he became Bill Belichick's Swiss army knife, catching passes out of the backfield, returning kicks and starring on coverage units, all while averaging 5.6 yards per carry in his first season in Foxborough. Woodhead remained with the Patriots for two more years, scoring a touchdown in their second Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.
A ten year career is pretty good for "a small little kid from North Platte, NE"!

Best luck on your future endeavors, Danny!

A great career for a guy we signed in 2010 only to give us info on the Jets before our Week 2 game, then will probably be cut on Monday.

Of all the 3rd down backs we’ve had over the year, I still argue that not one was had a better season than Danny Woodhead in 2010.

Best wishes Danny!

I loved the picture someone posted years ago of him and Welker in civilian gear standing next to one of those tiny cars, labelled NE Pats carpool.

There's a soft spot in my heart for small, shifty runners whose first option is to run you over (Dion).

10 years for any NFL RB is impressive. Well done, Danny!
