Sherman on the Way Out?

Yeah, we can analyze the game however we like, but I cannot and will never get past the single worst coaching decision in BB's career. Everything else about that game is irrelevant to me.

Now I'm by no means saying the rest of the team played fine and has no need for upgrade; quite the opposite. But it does seem silly to overanalyze the Super Bowl when we all know exactly why we lost.

Irrelevant? Pats win if they don’t turn the ball over. The D would have been horrible with or without Butler. It’s not like he had a stellar season.

That said, it’s a puzzling decision.

01 ~ I've always liked Richard Sherman the man ~ he had a column with Sports Illustrated that I enjoyed. He's ferocious, intelligent, and funny. He's passionate, he works his ass off, and I expect'm to have a brilliant future. I'd have a beer with'm any time.

02 ~ Not a fan of Richard Sherman the Soldier. I don't want a bland Patriots team: As far as I'm concerned, we don't have enough firebrands like Teddy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison, these days...But I have no wish to spend treasure and capital on jackasses who publicly berate their Leaders, as Sherman has done many times. Sherman strikes me very much like Randy Moss, a brilliant and mega-talented player with a gaping maw. And Moss was the best version of himself, while here...for a while...And then he started yapping, again, and poisoning the air. I'd expect precisely the same arc from Richard Sherman, should we acquire his talents. Pass.

03 ~ But if we were to seek Richard Sherman's services, the best time to get'm would be one year from now. Right now, he's trying to convince himself ~ and others ~ that 2018 isn't going to be a recuperating year, which is nonsense, and he's going to want to get paid accordingly...which some sorry dumbass will almost certainly see to. Hell, he could end up making more than whatever the SeaHawks owe'm!! But he's not gonna be 100% until 2019. After 2018, the attention-span-challenged masses will declare'm "washed up." Sign'm then. At a discount.

Tom Curran retweeted that. It is a fair point. Brent Grimes was a stud at age 33. Sherman’s game was never about speed & I think he could give us 2-3 years of high end play after injury.

Revis is a unique case of getting $39 million guarenteed from the Jets & eating himself out of the NFL at 30. That age really isn’t when most CBs decline.

I agree with that. Good corners can often play well into there mid 30s even at corner. And we’ve seen many move to safety. That’s what stunned me about Regis. I can’t believe what he turned into after 2014.

I want him signed today.
He's his own agent so it could move fast.
Question is does he want to be with friends familar coaches.
Or the Goat coach.

There are degrees of bad,

I'm willing to bet both of my legs that the defense would have been 10 points better with butler then without.

Who do you give up to sign an injured player to a big contract? Solder?

I’ve always felt that Sherman is that guy i really hate unless he’s on our team. If the money is reasonable, I would love to sign him. I’m not too worried about his injury. The guy is a hardcore competitor and will no doubt push himself to recover. Sooner we sign him though, the sooner he can put his nose to the grind and start studying the defense. Having Sherman back there for 2-3 years would help stop the bleeding. It would allow us to keep Jones in the Slot where he plays best, and give us time to hopefully draft Sherm’s replacement. Not to mention, I feel like having a guy like Sherman helps recruit some FA’s.

@Off The Grid has Sherman ever made runs at teammates? I know he was irritated with Bevell, but I don't recall him throwing his guys under the bus other than that. I could be wrong -- there's precedent! -- and I'm a huge fan of his game and toughness, so I'm likely biased. Ty Law said some really rough stuff about Belichick and was still wanted back eventually/re-embraced by fans.

Eh. I don't think it would have been 41 points horrible with him. It's not about him, really, it's about Jordan Richards.

Why is Belichick enamored by this guy? Whenever he is on the field as a defender,
he is missing tackles for big yardage.

Not everyone is going like everyone else on the team. As long as it’s not a distraction...

I want him on a 2 year deal with a team option for the second year

You want that revis 20 mil team option that we most certainly won’t pick up don’t you.

Jimke, you’re missing the point! It’s the fact that he is in the right place at the right time having anticipated the oppositions next move. Whether or not he makes a tackle is irrelevant. That’s not why he was drafted. He was drafted to wow us all with his football smarts, and slow down the play for the real defenders to make the tackle.

*posting that makes me feel a little ****ish. Richards seems like a really great guy, I just wish he was better. And the only reason I feel that way is because he was a 2nd rounder. It’s not his fault he got drafted in that spot.

Did I ever state that he "made runs at teammates?"??? o_O
