Lane Johnson says Pats are no fun and run by fear

Heard on a local station this weekend that BB has taken away the ability for the good / great players to free lance on the field- sighting several examples. Long, Hightower, Collins, most recently Butler... how fun can that be?

Philly is not aware of the adage, "Act like you have been there before"....

Johnson is an NFL guy who somehow grabs the mike and does not let go.. first his comments about Brady, being a "pretty boy" and now this.. if you do not give him attention, he might go away.

That's when you should have turned off the radio or switched to another station.

Asante Samuel, Ty Law, and Rodney Harrison are some of the players that freelanced often, because they had a nose for the ball, especially Harrison.

But you don't get to freelance just for the hell of it, like Collins did. Especially when it's away from the ball.

Belichick trusts the players who deserve to be trusted, and I have no doubt Hightower has the same freedom Harrison, Bruschi, and other leaders have had. Collins and Butler didn’t deserve that kind of freedom so they didn’t get it.

So what he's saying is that guys are expected to come in here and be professionals and ... wait for it... do their jobs? If they don't do their jobs, they sit? Or get shipped to Cleveland?

How is this news to any of us?

I hate the off-season. When does free agency start?

Yeah. Reich is gone already. Eagles are 9 mill over. Why I sent the league penalizing them?
They have to be under the cap by the time the league year begins in March. They will have to cut/restructure between now and then..

March 14 at 4:00. However it’s actually already started because players are openly trying to lure free agents to their teams, e.g.... Ravens player’s trying to convince Jarvis Landry to go to Baltimore.

Interesting question re: Pederson and whether the Iggles are anything different from the 1-hit-wonders we are used to.

I’ve seen some things suggesting they have a shot at being back. More later.

We know that NE!s way is not to trash talk the other team. We don’t know that it’s causal to our success. If it is, we don’t know that it’s necessary to somebody else’s.

Don’t care when some clod comes up with crap like this really. Interesting open ? Re the Iggles.

Meh - when someone who actually played for the team says this, I'll believe it.

Feels like Johnson got this from someone close to the Pats or an ex Patriot. My guess is Long, given the reasons for his departure. That would be too bad if it was him. Or he might have heard this from Reggie Wayne.

I can't see Blount saying something like this. Long, I can see given the reasons why he left the team.

I can’t see Blount saying that. If you watch that YouTube Edelman put up about the hell of a story, those guys seemed to have a lot of fun. I’m sure there’s a lot of pressure and demanding circumstances but that’s what you get on playoff caliber teams period

Considering that there are only 2 players with 5 SB rings ( Brady and Charles Haley)..it's a limited pool and Brady looks pretty happy. So tell Lane to go talk to Haley.....considering some of the NSFW locker room stories about Haley, he seemed pretty happy winning...

Of course, it's Long. Wasn't it clear he left because he was unhappy with the scheme and his role in it?

I miss Barry Sanders

**** talkers make me cringe ..although if you can back it up...

Ali was special

If a repeat happens..that would be pretty special, even by pats standards

He was mad b cause he couldn’t pad his stats here

I'd be surprised if he heard that from Long. He's always said he enjoyed his time here, that BB was always honest with him and he left simply because he felt he'd play more in a different system and BB agreed with him. I don't have any evidence that anyone told Johnson anything which would have caused him to say what he did. In the absence of any evidence I'll assume he simply expressed what he thinks is the case or that he just made it up. Either way, I don't care. Before this SB, I'd never heard of Lane Johnson. I'm guessing I'll never hear much about him going forward.

Long leaving was schematic based. I've never heard him say he didn't have fun.
