Why am I so nervous?

A chance to tie the squealers. Let's get it! Go pats!!!!

I will be sad if they lose. And I'm nervous as hell. But, since I expect them to lose (and, no, I don't go into every Super Bowl like this; in fact, the only other 2 times I expected a loss was against the Bears and Rams), I will not be absolutely devastated as I was with the Packers and both Giants games.

I mean, there is some in-between here.

I don't see how any Pats fan could expect them to lose this game. They have this matchup (on paper) easily. Nervous is one thing, but expect them to lose? That's crazy. I don't get it.

Easiest path to a Lombardi they have ever had or will have. Next year will almost certainly be much tougher. We should have Hightower (maybe, he gets injured a lot) Edleman and Mitchell (if he makes the roster) back. No reason to think we wont be even better next year. But we won't be facing Mariotta and two CFL QBs next year either. If we find a way to lose this, it will really sting. As far as Superbowl runs it doesn't get any easier. By far the worst QB the Pats have faced in the SuperBowl. Maybe you could make a case for Delhomme. That's about it. Last year we were facing the MVP of the freaking league at QB and one of the league's most potent offenses of all time. And we shut them down for most of the second half. I am not worried about this game. I just wish it would get here. It feels like it is taking forever.

This Philly team has won a lot of games. They are very good.

This Patriot D is not as good as most people here imagine. I like the Patriots DL a lot, but the LBs? Not much. And the DBs are all way too talented for the way they've played this year.

Tomorrow, the better team will win. Unlike 2007.

Any given Sunday...
If you weren't nervous you'd be dead.

Agreed, which is why this game is actually HUGE to me, as opposed to just "gravy" as some people are saying.

Of course win or lose, the Pats will be in the mix again next year, as they always are.
However, this has been our easiest path ever. If they don't win this year, who knows if Brady/BB (~2-5 years left) will again.

I'm telling you, a loss in this SB will just have a really nasty taste to it to it. Losing with our easiest path ever, both coordinators going, the then re-amplified debate of keeping Jimmy G vs Brady (Brady needs at least this SB to justify the trade) etc....and all after a week of legacy reflecting (BB/Brady documentaries)

I'm not taking for granted how awesome this SB win will feel and how possibly important it is going foward

They were fifth in the league in points allowed. That's not opinion. It's fact. Bad defenses don't do that. I am not worried about an offense led by Nick Foles. I bet he gives us a pick before half time.

Either way, I will be shocked if we don't score 35 plus. Our offense is a terrible matchup for Philly's defense. Probably the worst possible matchup of any AFC playoff team.

I am anxious and nervous..won't be a great night for sleep..going on a football info lockdown until game time..no pregame..nothing...GL all and GO PATS

With how this team has gotten behind so frequently this year and then found ways to win anyway, I would almost welcome the slow start. I would be MORE nervous to have them trying to protect a lead early rather than close a gap or just keep pace.
Nah, man. Pats aren't the kind of team that would feebly try to hang on for dear life, if they get up early it would just turn into a runaway. That would be nice.

It's like when the Sox came back from the 3-0 series hole against the Yankees. Yes the nailbiting come from behind wins were amazing and wonderful. But the game seven romp was wonderful too. It was a freaking coronation.

I feel like the Pats are due for their coronation.

I don't even watch the pre-game. I wait until the game starts.

Patriot LBs are at least equal I’d not better than eagle lbs.
patriot secondary is hands down, no question better.

They are way too talented to be a top 5 defense?
I guess that would be a good thing.

You are very wrong in this.

I've run a Madden Simulation and the Patriots are going to come from behind to win.

That crappy QB Delhomme scored more points on us than any QB in a SB in the Belichick/Brady era.

Im never nervous until the game start. No I dont want a slow start, I want to see a lead beginning to end....

I also know the Eagles are a very good team , probably one of the top 2-3 teams they will or did play this year so the Pats cant take them lightly.

Im more nervous about comments coming out like “the had a great Practire” or BB is at a T-Wolvs game....
BB at a wolves game seemed a little strange at first, but everyone needs to decompress after a long week. Clear the mind and refocus

If you are still nervous about the game, Ol' Doc Gwedd recommends 2oz of strong liquor, applied internally, each hour until the feeling passes. It's worked amazingly well for me.

I think it's the least stressful in many years. The pressure really started with #3.

Three makes you a dynasty.

Then with four it was the undefeated spygate stuff in 07.

Then in 2011 it was the Giants again, reliving the 07 nightmare.

Then in 2014 it was deflategate garbage and tying Montana and Bradshaw.

Then last year it was breaking the record for SB wins all time and the suspension.

This year they are the greatest dynasty to begin with. There is no sordid history with the Eagles.

My good friend moved to Vegas as a supervisor in the bookmaking part of the casino around 15 years ago. He just inboxed me that he is excepting action In the tune of 50 Eagles bets to every 1 Patriots bet. He then said to me “You know what that means? Bet the Patriots. The house never loses!”

If the Pats cover Vegas is going to make a ton of money.

Edit: Most smart sharps don’t touch the Super Bowl with a ten foot pole, most of the money is coming from average joes who bet on the Super Bowl more than any other event and it’s actually quite idiotic really. They deserve to lose their money.

When the Pats made it in 1996 it caught me by surprise. I was bummed that they lost but was happy they got that far, and it made me hopeful for the future (until Parcells bailed).

When they made it back in 2001, that season was a surprise but I felt supremely confident in them and was honestly shocked they were underdogs by so much after having played the Rams close in the regular season. I wasn’t scared of the Rams, honest to God. That Pats team was magical and it felt like destiny so I wasn’t worried.

In 2003 and 2004 I wasn’t nervous either, just believed the Pats had it all under control. Especially as closely fought that Panthers game was, I felt confident we’d get the lead back and that’s exactly what happened.

It wasn’t until the Pats blew a 21-3 lead in the AFCCG vs the Colts in 2006 that I started to worry. That receiving corps was a disaster and yet still Brady almost willed it to the SB. In 2007 I was nervous only because the Holy Grail of football was at stake, with all eyes on us, them rooting against history being made. And just...I still struggle talking about it. I didn’t sleep at all that night.

After that I’ve almost always been cautious. I let my guard down a little last SB because I thought the Falcons would be easier to deal with than the Packers. And then the Pats got punched in the mouth for almost 3 quarters. It took the most epic SB comeback ever to undo the damage. But lesson learned: it only takes one bad game for the journey to end short of the goal.

I believe in this team, especially because the Brady/Belichick combo is always a huge advantage to have. They will be prepared. It’s just a matter of the team executing the gameplan and minimizing mistakes. But the Eagles are an excellent all-around football team and are only underdogs because they’re up against the defending champs. This is not a team to be taken lightly, and for that I will be nervous until the victory is assured. The Patriots in the Super Bowl is an exercise in torture, but I welcome it because it’s always better than them not making it in the first place. A comfortable Pats SB victory would be a nice change of pace though! :)

I hate to admit this, but I made a TON of money in 1986. I needed the cash (two little kids at the time) and the people were going crazy in MA when the Pats made the Superbowl.

I knew they had no chance to win that game. The Bears' defense was all-time incredible.

New Englanders were giving me the Bears WITH POINTS.

Ah well.

Made money on Hagler-Leonard, too. As soon as I found out where the fight was being held, I knew the fix was in for Leonard.
