Dion Lewis is going to tear up the Eagles.

I did a quick eye pass of your post and somehow I actually read that as "Only Zeke Mowatt had standout games vs them".

Dust off the Patriot Missiles, boys.
Zeke Mowatt....another stand-up Patriot from the Lisa Olsen incident.

What about him? Was there some part of the 'outperforming what he does on a regular basis' qualifier that escaped your notice? The GOAT shows everyone just how wrong they were every time he takes the field. A 'basis' doesn't get any more regular than that.

This is unnecessarily antagonistic. And your argument is flawed, considering the motivation in his case would be his draft position, so we have no basis to compare him to in which he wouldn't always have that motivation. With Dion we would have how he performs when not playing a team that cut him, vs. how he plays against said team. Not saying he's actually going to go above and beyond (and how would we know how to quantify that difference anyway), but it is a different situation.

Make no mistake about it the Cat had a tough day against his estranged relatives. They too possess the quickness we all crave. Never the less FEAR THE CAT!!!!

I believe Elliott played them when they were resting everyone in Week 17. Philly avoided Elliott earlier in the year, if I am not mistaken.

However, Alfred Morris dusted their overrated D for 17 carries and 91 yards for 5.4 YPC.

Kareem Hunt, 13 carries 81 yards.

I could go on with how Philly hasn't played a legit offense like ours.

Maybe pump the breaks a bit on this vaunted Philly D. Jax's D was better and they ,too, hadn't faced a team like NE all year.

When Philly played a pretty good offense, they got torn up.

That Oakland tape in December? BB will looking at that a whole lot. Oakland toyed with that D.

Said it before and will say it again: Every time the media wishfully praises the opponents' D to such a degree, it sounds like just that (Wishful thinking to avoid complimenting the Pats anymore than they need to), the Pats D takes it to heart and comes out and lays waste to the opposing offense.

I am not saying a shut out or anything along those lines, but essentially slamming the door at some point during the game.

Don't be shocked if the 20 points or less aspect comes into play yet again in a Super Bowl for this D.
I think the Iggles D is pretty good. I don't think its as good as JAX and certainly a D NE can score 30+ vs.

I think NE will have a hard time running the ball but I don't think they will try all that hard to do it.

Philly's secondary is vulnerable.

I am sorry you misinterpreted it. It was meant in a jovial way, unfortunately tone doesn't quite come through in a blog post. I would hope where no offense was meant none would be taken but since it was I apologize for my poor communication skills.

No apology necessary. Text is terrible for communication when it comes down to it. I apologize myself if I inferred too much.

I hadn't even considered that he'd want to show them just what they missed out on.

"Not playing"

Sounds like someone with a chip on their shoulder.

Well, that chip HAS to be pretty big considering how small D-Lew is. I’ll take it. :D

I see it the other way around. They are super aggressive and bordering on uncontrolled off the edges with Barnett and Long. BB will double Cox and eliminate him.

That leaves overrated Curry and Jernigan in one on ones, with Brandon Graham (Philadelphia Eagles: The 10 Worst Draft Picks of the Andy Reid Era) still being a disappointment from their 2010 draft, IMO. I don't buy this garbage about some of these guys being the second coming. Their front really isn't better than ours. I mean, Nink had a better career than Brandon Graham. These aren't players that have me quaking. They're good, but not great.

Cox is their best player, but you saw what BB did to Calais Campbell and even Malik Jackson last week.

Long and Barnett swing way wide over and over with their rushes...use it against them. Do lots of delay counters, wham type runs off the edge at them, and attack them physically.

That's not really their game, IMO.

Keep in mind, they been involved in a lot of big lead games, where they'd get the lead and then tee off, which obviously makes it easier.

Be great, if we could defer, then get a 3 and out, go up 7-0 and just see what goes on from there, because like Jax, I think Philly is not used to playing from behind much.

The last thing we need is for them to think we won't run it and run it some more, like SB 42 and SB 46.

No excuses from McDaniels/Brady here with the playcalls and when they choose certain plays and why....I'd much rather know I have real playaction by halftime, than try to manufacture it in the 2nd half. Don't want to wait that long or risk not having it, especially for clock milking potential with a lead in the second half. That's the beaty of knowing LEwis can run inside and out with equal effectiveness.

Excellent insight from Greg Cosell (even though most of us already knew about the uptempo no-huddle strategy)

Is that the kind of chip that saying is about? I never understood it

I just googled it cause I never even though to wonder what it was about.

Chip on shoulder - Wikipedia

"A chip on the shoulder" comes from the ancient right of shipwrights within the Royal Navy Dockyards to take home a daily allowance of offcuts of timber, even if good wood was cut up for this purpose. The privilege was instated as a prescriptive right from 1634.[2][3][4] By 1756, this privilege had been abused and was costing taxpayers too much in lost timber for warship repair and construction. The decision was then made by the Navy Board to limit the quantity a shipwright could carry home. A warrant was issued to the Royal Dockyards to reduce the quantity of chips by ordering shipwrights to carry their bundles under their arms instead of on their shoulders, as one could not carry as much timber in this fashion. The specific incident from which the expression derives is as follows:

“ Master Shipwright and his Assistant, Chatham Dockyard, to Navy Board, 17 June 1756.
On Tuesday a petition was brought to the Honourable Thomas Cooper, Esq., Commissioner of this yard, by John Bissenden and Robert Woodriff, shipwrights, in behalf of the whole body of shipwrights, relating to their carrying chips out of the yard on their shoulders. The next day the Commissioner sent for them in the presence of the Master Shipwright and the First Assistant and represented to them the ill consequence of such proceedings, and read to them your Honourable Board's warrant of the 4 May 1753 on which the said two men withdrew the petition and said they would talk to all the people and believe everybody would be satisfied with what had been said to them. And in the afternoon the Master Shipwright sent for all the foremen and quartermen and read the Order to them of the 4th May 1753, and give every quarterman a particular charge to tell all his men separately what the order was relating to their lowering their chips and carrying them under their arm out of the yard.

This day at twelve of the clock some few of the workmen about one hundred and fifty came up first to the gate without any chips, afterwards about twenty more came and lowered their chips agreeable to the Board's warrant. Then came John Miller, shipwright, about thirty feet before the main body of the people, on which the Master Shipwright ordered him to lower his chips. He answered he would not, with that the Master Shipwright took hold of him, and said he should. He, the said Miller replied, 'Are not the chips mine? I will not lower them.' Immediately the main body pushed on with their chips on their shoulders, crowded and forced the Master Shipwright and the First Assistant through the gateway, and when out of the yard give three huzzas.[5]

I hope he tears them to pieces but the big games are likely going to be by design and context, not revenge. Truth be told, at least imo, the Patriots can hurt the Eagles at every level and in every way, it just depends upon the opportunities and Brady exploiting them. It could be Lewis and White, Gronk, Cooks and Hogan, Amendola, or maybe even Burkhead. Or any combination of them. Overall it’s the most balanced offense they have ever gone into a Super Bowl with, And I can’t escape the feeling Brady is going to use every aspect of it and their offense will have a really good night against a really good defense.

Belichick, MacDaniels, Brady and Patricia will all know what the Eagles are doing and want to do by the 20:00 minute mark, and I think it will be all New England after that.

I could obviously be completely wrong but this is the best I have felt about a Super Bowl that I can remember.

Patriots in a blowout.
