ESPN hitpiece on Patriots (Rift with Brady/Belichick/Kraft) - Merged

If you seriously think there is no truth in this then you are delusional. This isn’t some fake “hit job”. The collective statement was a whole lot of nothing.

If you think Brady went over Belichick to Kraft and Kraft ordered Belichick to trade Garrapolo then you’re the one that’s delusional. Belichick had an opportunity to trade Brady in the spring and scoffed at it, he’s not going to turn around in the middle of an all Pro season by Brady and decide to go with the unproven player who couldn’t make it through two games when needed for four. All of this has been rebutted by the supposed participants and absolutely none of it has been substantiated by anyone. And the source of the article has a unique track record when it comes to writing lies about the Patriots.

not bad to have a higher qb rating than the presumptive MVP for 1/3 of the season

with worse talent around him.....and lesser coaching.....and a new system

but your point about foles and kaep is valid

next year will be the real comparison......looking forward to it
Well at least you admit (finally) to not being a Patriots fan. See you next season!

2 things i am assuming

1. the 40 year olds best years are behind him.......he will decline.....and at some point in the future will no longer be the best option at QB......

when that threshold is crossed is the 64,000 question

2. i assume that the promising 26 year old.....who is 7-0......with a better qb rating than brady in the last 5 games, while playing in a new system........he will continue to improve in the coming years

i dont think these are crazy assumptions

the 2nd assumption could be wrong.....but i think it's more likely to be right

You assume he will win multiple super bowls. From what you know now, that is crazy.

Agree. They should have limited the statement to that phrasing, instead they linked it as one of three descriptions with "unsubstantiated" and "highly exaggerated." "Unsubstantiated" suggests something might be true, but no source is cited. "Highly exaggerated" suggests that there is an element of truth that has been overblown.

They should have issued a simple statement that says "The article is flat-out inaccurate and we're on to the Playoffs. We will have no further comment on this article of this matter."

If they wanted to issue a different kind of statement, they could have said something like:

"Bob, Bill and Tom have worked together for 18 years as one of the most successful partnerships in the history of global Professional Sports. As is the case with every successful partnership, they don't always agree on everything, but, at the end of the day, they stand together and work together and will continue to stand and work together as they carry on the work of building the Greatest Dynasty in NFL history. Anyone who suggests otherwise is seriously misinformed. We will have no further comment on this article or this matter."
But they didn’t want to issue a different kind of statement so the issued the one that said what they wanted to say. It was a long article. I’m sure some of it was accurate such as stating that Guerrero created a situation where B.B. needed to step in.
There are many things in the article that happened but were spun to mean something it did not. You can’t categoricalky deny that brady but josh’s head off just because it is used to imply something that is wrong.
They handled it very well.

i am a BB fan

always been honest about it

if all this drama is true......then its about competing egos and legacies

i am on BBs side

But something is up that Belichick is not happy about.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Call me crazy, but recently in his press conferences Belichick seems a little dour. Impatient. Sometimes even annoyed with some of the questions. He definitely hasn't been the same old Bubbly Bill that we've all come to know over the years.

Explain how you are a fan of BB. And don't give us that same old **** that you're an old girlfriend etc.

I think espn is the worst thing to be foisted upon the human race since cancer. This all reminds me of deflate gate in that some moron writes a crap story then everyone starts yelling it everywhere. They must be employing hitlers theory from mine kamph. If you tell a whopping lie often enough it becomes true or whatever it said. Something like that
Foisted!

It's not popular to say it out here, but I think you're right. If they were trying to issue an unequivocal denial, they should fire their PR team, because what they issued was weak. It reads like something put together by committee.

Strikes me as typical Kraft speak. They denied it in corporate lawyerese.

There is no doubt that the alex guerrero thing has ruffled his feathers a bit.

Respect but I think you and others are being too scrutinizing over the presser.

Quite frankly, I would have loved....

"Once again, ESPN has authored a baseless, factually inaccurate article about of our franchise, our coaches and our players. Since 2000, Bill, Tom and I have won 5 Super Bowls and we look forward to winning many more together.".

your point about foles and kaep is valid...

and RGIII too. But, yes, he could be Drew Brees.

Which do you think is more common, a Drew Brees career or a Foles/Kaep/RGIII career?

If I were betting my mortgage on it, I know which way I'd go. I hope I am wrong, 'cause I like Jimmy.

aaaand another piece of the story is discredited...but ESPN doesnt care. they put the story out there. no one reads the retractions. Fans of other teams will just read how Brady is in the back locking the door for Jimmy g so he ant get in.
