Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

JG is a stud. I never doubted him.

Still, there was nothing we could've done to keep him. And it does pisses me off

exactly, Jimmy G was going to be a free agent next year (unless NE franchised him). Brady has pr0ven with his play this year he can go another 2-3 years. Are you going to dump the GOAT and let him finish his career elsewhere? I’d rather keep Brady a patriot for life and let Jimmy G become a stud for SF. If Brady has 4 straight losing seasons from 2018 to 2021 so be it.

I hope Jimmy G gets a super bowl in SF but not against NE and no more than one.

I’m stunned that people could think this way. I’m going to list cold facts.

1. Patriots are champs because of Brady. No way any quarterback but Brady wins that game.

2. Patriots are now 12-3, have a bye week and no ones going to beat this team when it matters and all of you know this.

3. Brady has pulled this off with a horrid schedule, massive injuries, no number one receiver etc.

4. Teams run at the pats every week as if it’s the play offs and teams take any cheap shot they can yet, Jeze the guy is going at mvp pace.

5. The defense is fried from too many injuries.

What more can this guy guve?

Thank you. Brady is putting this team on his fu**ing back ffs. We are 12-3. The chicken littles on this board are too much, you all are spoiled as sh*t. It's honestly infuriating.

No one's arguing Brady's achievements. Yes we know what he's done. It has more to do with the next 10-15 years. This was our Montana/Young situation, Farve/Rodgers. It may not sting much right now, but wait a couple years when Hoyer's our starting qb, bb retires (Would have stayed if he could have kept Jimmy) and Jimmy's winning in S.F. I have a feeling you'll be singing a different tune.

There's a big issue with this post: Hoyer is not going to be your starting QB in a few years. That you think so makes it hard to take you seriously.

Folks... Jimmy Garoppolo is really, really, really good and he's quickly mastering the best offensive coach in football's gameplan. He picked apart a defense today that can be described as historically good, and he did it with Marquise Goodwin as his top receiver. He is effectively doing what Brady did at the same age, overachieving with an undertalented supporting cast.

I wish him the best but I also know we're going to be bitter some years from now, whenever Brady hangs them up. Was it the right decision? I don't know. I don't know what else you can do. And maybe they draft Lamar Jackson with the pick they got for him and he's Brady's heir and even better. But I can't help but feel a bittersweet feel when I watch that incredibly attractive, incredibly talented Italian man sling that football.

What on earth makes you think Hoyer will be our starting QB?

People really think BB should have gotten rid of Brady for a completely unproven JG.

When Brady retires after next year or the year after and NE has nada at the QB position, we'll revisit your statement.

I continue to be amazed at the people who cover their eyes and plug their ears and pretend Brady will be playing until the end of time.

Yes, JG will almost certainly never be as good as Brady. But "not as good as Brady but playing" is an infinitely better on-the-field player than "Was the GOAT but is retired."

But Garoppolo no longer on the team doesn’t have to mean the Pats will have nada at the position.

trading JG was a franchise altering mistake. looking at his stat line makes me sick to my stomach. they should have traded Brady this offseason. it would have taken massive balls to do so. i think BB wanted to trade Brady this offseason and was overruled by ownership.

Maybe but I doubt it. I’ll tell you what will happen. Brady plays next year with the q.b drafted, possibly one more. Then he retires after winning his 7th ring. The new guy plays in 2020 winning like ten games and begins a new era. I can’t see into that but this is what I do see. They trained jimmy, he wins with garbage, new guy trains with Brady and B.B. and then he wins. No mystery

Jimmy G learned a lot from the GOAT. It sucks that we couldn't get a first rounder for this guy. We will see next year with a full year to see what he can do.

i wish it was that easy. nice dream.

I really believe this to be true. I think bill stays two years beyond Brady’s retirement and becomes an qb coach. The new guy drafted this off season learns for two years under Brady then takes over. I know it sounds bizzare and even fairy tailish but this is New England and all that

Meaning Brady stays in New England as a coach for quarterbacks as he won’t be able to leave the game and become a tv guy

Completely agree. The only thing that gives me hope is that BB has now developed two elite QB's. As long as he hasn't been demoralized by ownership forcing him to trade away Jimmy, I'm betting he can do it again.

Gretzky ended up on another team, Orr ended up on another team, Jordan retired as a wizard for crying out loud. Montana retired as a chief.

If Kraft's plan was continued sustained success, he opted to go against that by not keeping Jimmy G.

Gang Green forum down again? Or is it just seasons over etc..

And the silver lining is that maybe all the fake fans here will go away and bother the real fans of another franchise.

There is a silver lining to everything if you just think it though.
