He is practically paying the Pats to play at this point. They need to start thinking about a slot receiver though. They have had it pretty darn good for while. DA will be in camp next year though, for sure

Our next Welker/Edleman is probably already in the league as an undrafted practice squad member or soon to be in the near future

We need to hire whoever does the contracts in Seattle. They’ve got like 37 guys making big money

The cap must be crap

Are you referring to the same Seahawks team that because of cap space issues waited a couple of weeks to place Kam Chancellor on IR?

I don’t understand the general feeling by some that Butler is expendable. I wouldn’t want to do without him this year.
I think BB's success in replacing players not named Brady and continuing to compete for championships has fed the, 'everyone is expendable' narrative. His success gives the fandom confidence in thinking Butler is expendable.

Malcolm is a helluva player. We'll see how successful BB is at replacing him.

No, I’m talking about the same Seahawks who had their elite core together in their prime for 6 straight years and went to a couple SBs themselves.

Now they are getting old, just in time for them to have to part ways with a few of them.

You mean the guys who are on IR for the 2nd year in a row?

Would like to have Butler here but I can see the team letting him go and have Jones take his spot. Preferably, I would like the team to make cap space for him, I think Butler is our best corner too.

So if Butler walks, who are the two main CB's? Gilmore & Rowe ( Yeesh..)? Maybe draft a CB.

I think a pass rusher needs to be a priority for the draft too. Same with Wide receiver ( Hogan, Amendola, Edelman, Mitchell tend to get beat up and/or mids too much time).

I'd like to see a Tight End get drafted. Gronk will be 29, with lots of mileage on that body.

Sounds like someone who has no idea how roster building works or how much of a crap shoot the draft is.

Yeah, i agree with what you're saying. I think the average fan is asleep at the wheel with regard to the Butler situation. Guys like him are not easy to replace. One only needs to look at what Gilmore has done here for a reality check.

Generally since TB Gilmore has been very good. No one on D played well vs Pitt

It does not take a lot of expertise to keep a team together when core players are on their cheap rookie deals.

Gilmore has had a good year ( other than fans blaming plays that he had nothing to do with on him because he’s the new guy)

The biggest argument against the Seahawks as some sort of model salary cap franchise is that they've been fielding one of the worst OLs in the league ever since they traded away Max Unger, hamstringing the offense to the point where the defense is mad at the offense's production. The prime of the great defense and Russell Wilson has been frittered away since they have been unable to field a complete team.

The fundamental issue with Seattle is that they are too top heavy and at the same time have drafted very poorly since 2013 which coincidentally is the point when they started to draft in the high 20s/30s. When everybody is healthy on defense then this side of the ball looks pretty intimidating but in a sport where injuries are guaranteed each week, it is a gamble to pay that many players top salary and sacrifice the middle class especially when your last 4 drafts have been mostly hot garbage.

The only two players of note since 2013 are Frank Clark (who fell because of DV issues as a college player) and maybe Tyler Lockett. Add in the trade you mentioned where they send away Unger + Pick for an overrated piece like Jimmy Graham or when they traded another first round pick to Minnesota for Harvin who turned out to be a bust in his tenure at Seattle and you have a problem.

Unless they can pull a historic draft out of their asses in 2018 their window is shut for now.
