2018 Draft Prospect Thread

Ro Smith is sooooooo good. Just all over the field. In the box, downfield, flat. He's everywhere.

PBU abt 30 yards down the field just now.

Yeah, that pass breakup was insane. I thought he was the safety for a moment. I think he'll get a lot of Reuben Foster comparisons. Good player.

Id love if they'd take one of Smith, Jefferson, Evans. Id go w the one who is least liability vs power run.

Roq didn't look good yesterday vs run . then again all G-7 was schooled by Kerryon..

Bama didn't use Evans inside yesterday despite Holcombe's poor efforts and leaking vs run . although he was good stoping the run from inside earlier (probably preferred him guarding the edge for Fitzgerald)

Depends also what they think of Langi who is similar type of player (not so shiny in college but still..) . they did put him on the line in preseason but that is far from decisive

Classical Pat pick would be green dot stud Jewell and I wouldn't be surprised despite High + KVN long term contracts.

Nice possibilities of hybrids for “star“ position in O'Daniel (Clemson), Harrison (Bama), White (WV), McLaurin (Miss St), Pratt (NC St), Thompson (LSU), Bierria (Washington), Tranquill (ND), Howard (TCU) .. quite a few others to watch

Tough facemask for Vea. He worked so hard for that sack, only to have it taken away. Great effort from him all game to control the line of scrimmage. They can't run at him, but they run to the gap created where he's not when he's tied up with two linemen and his team lets him down. Nothing about this game has changed my opinion that he's the best DT in the draft and would be stellar in our defense.

Vea, branch, valentine and brown at dt for us would be insane for us.

We would need to use either our first or San fran’s Second to get him. (Can you believe the giants laid down and lost to San Fran????)

Yes but the good thing it looks like We can stay pat and get him with one of those as opposed to a trade up.

Giants have some great pieces but their Oline is dogshit.

If we could get vea with our first then i think we could easily have one of the most versatile front fours in the league. We could have vea and brown to clog running lanes early downs. Then we could have vea and valentine to rush the qb up the middle on passing downs. If the draft works out that way for us, I am very excited of the thought when combining them with a returning derek rivers.

Finally got to watch Jackson's snaps against Ohio State. Wow! Aside from competitive, physical coverage, he showed a ton of savvy to his game. Super impressed by his instincts, ball skills, and willingness to tackle. He can play man, but his awareness of formation and route combination really stand out in zone. He might have vaulted up to CB #1 for me. Reminds me of a bigger Logan Ryan (the good version; despite some inconsistency, Ryan was incredible when he was on his game). Unless he bombs the rest of the season and tests poorly, he's a huge binkie now.

I re-watched that game just to see how the hell Iowa manhandled OSU. He was incredible. Also, he had TWO pick-6's vs Wisconsin!! If he tests well at the combine, think he's gone before we pick. I like two other Hawkeyes. Jewell of course at ILB.
And, their C if he comes out. James Daniels.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Vea's body? Too apple shaped for my liking.
I'm leaning towards Wilkins. But, he's prob Top 10. I like Hurst as a 3-tech. He might be that 3-tech we need. A healthy D. Easley with a Pats lineage.

We've got 3 young de's in; Flowers, Wise and hopefully Rivers. Any vets out there to bring them along instead of another young guy?

Hi all, must apologise about my poor recent postings on Linebackers. Work has suddenly become an absolute nightmare and I'm flying to all parts of the world and only really having time to watch games! Hopefully will settle down soon and I can get back to the draft and working some things out. Yesterday's performance has really confused me on what our key needs are.

I'd say : Pass Rusher/ILB/OLB are the top 3 needs then potentially QB/Slot receiver

Not sure Branch will come back. I think Edge and DT are our 2 biggest needs. Van Noy looks pretty good and Hightower is coming back. I'd like an ILB at some point. Maybe, 2-3. Don't forget CB because M. Butler will be gone. Doubt, we can count on Cyrus Jones to replace him. Maybe, Rowe or Bademosi. But, we will at least need depth.

It's difficult to assess needs because you don't know what benefits you will get from Rivers and Garcia and the Deonte guy(forgot his name). I would have said OT first but if Solder came back and Garcia can play, that looks solid. Then I think pass rush, Edge and interior but if Butler and Wise get second year bumps along with Rivers that could be ok. Then I would say run stuffing DT with potential that Branch leaves. Then QB if there is one with potential. I think safety is fine, I like Travers on the practice squad, and of course corner with Malcom leaving. HOWEVER---I have decided to tell Bill to just do what he thinks best and don't worry about me.

DT is an interesting area in this years draft. Two talents stand out Vita and Payne.

I watch tons of Alabama games and I still can not tell you what number Payne wears. He just does not pop on film.

But it looks like hurst might be available in the 32 to 36 range. He is a stout run defender and might interest bb.

Sometimes it's difficult to evaluate Bama players. They've been so good for 10 years. There's a tendency to over-rate the parts because the sum of those parts is so good.

Payne is a good DT for us. When I'm back at a computer I'll throw together some gifs.

Evans pops on that defense though. He's going to be a star.

I think WR needs to be looked at this year or a late flyer. Dola and JE11 are getting up there in age. Would be good if we could find maybe an UDFA or another 7th rounder or something.

I know we have cooks, Malcom, Hogan ( not sure how old) and Dola and JE11 but apart from cooks and Malcom they are starting to get up there in age. Would be nice to see if there's any talent with regards to WR this year.

I need to watch some footage of Evans of Bama

Hurst might DT1 come draft time. I'd be surprised if he was in our range.

There is a really good slot receiver named Kirk that plays for Texas a&m that we need to investigate.

I would not mind calling Jerry jones after the season and see if Cole Beasley is available.

We have our best men on him round the clock..;)

Seriously, he might be out of reach presuming BB wants some young D reinforcements and a QB to develop.

Fortunately slot seems to be one of the better positions in this draft (depending on declaring) so later picks should do ok. Day 2: Miller, Pettis, Burnett, Samuel . and especially Berrios and Renfrow in later rounds..

I very much agree they should get a quality slot guy.. And don't get me wrong - Id be ecstatic if they took Kirk!
