As of now, it's a race between Brady and Wentz

------------------------------------------------------------
Tom Brady (8-2)

Yards: 3,146 (1st)
YD/A: 8.28 (2nd)
Completion %: 68.7 (4th)

TDs: 22 (2nd)
INTs: 2
TD/INT Difference: +20 (1st-T)

QB Rating: 110.9 (1st)
------------------------------------------------------------
Carson Wentz (9-1)

Yards: 2,430 (10th)
YD/A: 7.64 (9th)
Completion %: 59.7 (30th)

TDs: 25 (1st)
INTs: 5
TD/INT Difference: +20 (1st-T)

QB Rating: 103.4 (4th)
------------------------------------------------------------

Brady is statistically better, I think it's going to come down to who has the better record.

Let’s go Wentz!

TB should have easily wont he MVP last year and should win it this year. I hope he gets, 2 int and a 68% completion percentage is ridiculous

The argument for MVP always seems to come from the side that doesn't favor Brady. Such as if the Pats have the best record "MVP is a player award not team". If Brady is leading in statistical categories its "MVP should be carrying their team to the best record".

I can't say I don't care, because it's nice for Brady to rack up lots of accolades but, there are more important tasks at hand than winning the MVP.

td to int ratio should be used instead of differential.

wentz throws an int every 5 tds, bradys throws one every 11.

they might be the same differential, but Brady is FAR more efficient.

really just them two? has Alex Smith and their RB Hunt fallen off that much that quickly?

no one in convo on D side of ball?
have no other QBs, WRs, or RBs made a big impact this year?

Alex Smith has indeed fallen off that quickly.

Hunt is having a good year, but his stats + team's decline are not nearly good enough to be considered for MVP, considering the extra criteria needed for an RB to win over a QB.

No defensive player having close to a year good enough either, again, would take an all-time historic season by a defensive player for that to ever happen.

Brees would be the third candidate, but it'd require the Saints to surpass the Eagles in the NFC + him getting closer to Brady statistically.

For some reason i always though the mvp was a curse. Idk. I prefer the hardware in early february.
Bingo, don’t want the early MVP, I want him to get the February one. Let Wentz enjoy the regular season MVP.

Given that Brady only has two MVPs despite being the best player in the league for so long, I'd like to see him get another. Plus, it would be pretty cool to see a forty year old win it.

Wentz being a novelty will help him win it.

Unless Wentz doesn't play so well down the stretch & Brady continues his current pace.

As my main man Radio once said:

My current MVP rankings.

#1 Brady - most yards. Running game has mostly been meh. Best QB this year again and of the top MVP candidates his D for the entire year has been the worst and he is doing this without last years top WR. Not that he doesn't have weapons but still that is impressive. His OL has been shaky this year compared to other MVP candidates too. The last few games it has been really solid though and that shows with his play.

#2 Brees - Brees is getting a bit of the "Brady treatment" this year by the MVP community. His OL struggled early but it has righted the ship lately and on the whole been better than Brady's. He has a fairly "unimpressive" 15 TDs but his team has run in a league best 15 TDs (the Pats have run in 7). His running game is good so it rightfully deserves more love than Brady's but lets not make the mistake to believe Brees isn't the main source of offense on this team. If the Saints ran in only 7 TDs and passed for the other 8 Brees would have 23 TDs (1 better than Brady). Let's keep that in mind as it is a complaint we are Patriots fans had when it came to Rodgers and Manning taking all their team's TDs to pad stats. Like the Patriots his defense didn't help him out much early but they got it together after a rough start. Like Brady he is doing this without his top WR last year (Cooks). Thomas is great but when your 2nd best WR is Ted Ginn you need to give bonus points. Any advantage Brees has in his running game is equalized by lack of pass catching talent. This is a close race in my mind. The Key is turnovers. Brady has 2 and Brees has 5. Also it is fair to point out Brees on the whole has had the better D through 10 games but only slightly. the Pats D may well leap frog them this week (separated by only 7 points).

#3 Wentz - Wentz ranked 3? A lot of people would ask why. Well a lot of reasons. One is his D has been pretty damn good. The best of the 3 candidates... Particularly at generating turnovers. That has given him more chances to score. With those chances he is barely helping his O score more than than the Pats or Saints. He has 25 TDs which leads the league but that is padded a bit. With a run game statistically equal to the Saints instead of their 15 TDs the Eagles have ran in 9. The 2nd best run game with only 9 rushing TDs to this point is odd particularly with a very solid offense as a whole. That to me is a bit of stat inflation. Also an MVP candidate should do more to carry their team. Wentz feels like a passenger a good amount of the time on a very good team. His 243 YPG passing isn't much. It is 14th overall and fairly average. He isn't being asked to do too much. To be fair unlike Brees and Brady he has ran for 224 yards. Still his YPG pale to the other 2. His completion % of 59.7 is unusually low for this day and age. Yes I know his WRs drop passes but lets not pretend the Pats and Saints don't drop passes too. Philly doesn't have that 1 big name playmaker but they have a number of good options. Their depth dwarfs the Pats and Saints IMO. The fact Wentz has been sacked so much behind such a good OL is very surprising. Particularly with a solid running game and lots of runs to protect him (the Eagles to this point have run more than passed).

No one else is really in the convo. No RB or WR is having a good enough year to threaten. Brown be the best non QB option IMO. Hunt/Gurly/Bell are all in the hunt for RB and jumbled together.

If obviously all else remains equal, Brady will win his third league MVP and the race might not be as close as people think. I don't think they will look at this too analytically. They will give it to the 40 year old QB who is doing things 40 year old QBs aren't supposed to do. And I bet the voters will want to salute the GOAT in this way while they still can and Brady is playing at this level.

Lots of football left though.

If we win out Brady is MVP. No question...

Dude, Alex Smith will get benched for Mahomes if the Chiefs lose another. What are you talking about.

I am going to say something sacriligeous for many here. I have always believed this run has been more Brady than Belichick.

I can't be dishonest, it's how I feel.

Belichick is perfect for Brady, as he figures out exactly how to balance his team, to focus on complementary areas, and to find football players who "do their job" and don't screw up a game so badly it makes it difficult for his star QB to win it.

Brady though is absolutely crucial because of his ability to wear down and pick apart defenses. It is this element that has made the Patriots so successful.

Belichick has taken advantage of it by knowing how to leverage Brady's place on the team and complement him, whether that's on special teams or defense.

Brady has also made Dante Scarnecchia look good, though an easy argument can be made that it works both ways.

What I'm trying to say: Brady has been the most valuable player since 2003.
