Papa Billy Bob Apologizes

Sorry, but saying 'F neo nazis' is not standard corporate boilerplate.
It's the CEO telling the twitter account manager to come up with platitudes and non-controversial things to say that the public will eat up. It's about as out of the box as the "don't be evil" campaign.

Ten years ago you would be right. Ten years ago Wolfenstein was not considered particularly cutting edge politically.

Amen. Distancing your company from white supremacists is hardly a risky corporate strategy.

At my house, we order delivery pizza once every few months and choose Pizza Hut more often than not mainly because of the great deals and fast delivery. And more often than not, they fu*k up the order. But to their credit, they rectify their mistakes immediately, rush the fixed order to us….and toss in free pizza coupons galore. I secretly hope they fu*k up every order.
Our local Papa Johns is not immune to mistakes either, but instead of correcting them, the local franchise issues free-flowing apologies with a blanket "We'll do better next time." Once…when I couldn't find any BBQ chicken on my BBQ chicken pizza, they insisted the correct amount of chicken is portioned out on every one of their pies.
My mistake I guess.
Lol for the longest time we had a place that kept messing up our buff chick calzone and making a chic parm calzone so he would just give us the mess up for free along with the fixed one. I was really dissappointesd when he got his **** together lol

No I disagree. Papa is clearly backtracking. His sincerity is solely in his wallet. That tweet is a bunch of corporate hoopla and everyone knows it

He aligned himself with Jerrah, blamed the kneeling for his losses, lost 16% more in stock value since his comments and is now trying to fish his way to some kind of middle ground. Too late.

Whatever he says now is either going to upset the left or the right.

Look at the comments to that tweet. "Now you're ok with kneeling" hahahaha

It's funny to me.

Bigger question is where is five head?

This whole thing got stupid and ridiculous, now frustrating. All "Papa" John has to do is stop playing himself off as some true Italian, make a better product, and have better prices. When we get "fast food chain" pizza it is either Domino's or Pizza Hut. The Papa John's in my area is way overpriced compared to them and never has any coupon deals. No wonder they can't compete.

Carpet bombing NFL broadcasts with dozens of spots....gets passed on to the consumer. And as you say, it's all about the deals.
Fast food pizza is garbage, so it is just a question of who will sell you the least expensive garbage.

Well of course it's all about money and the apology was driven by that. OTOH, it is no boilerplate apology that you expect from a very large corporation. It's more of the type you expect from a smaller company that has less to lose.

Obviously it is a calculated risk on their part: risk offending the neo-nazis and the people that empathize with them (a very small minority), in an attempt to get the more liberals back on your side. More ballsy than the usual pablum.

I'm cynical, but I still like what they did. When the neo-nazis embrace you, tell them to F off, quickly and unequivocally. That's something that might seem obvious, but there are certain people at the top of our government that have a hell of a lot of trouble doing it.

Again, like I said, 10 years ago it probably wouldn't have been edgy. In this polarized extremist context, it is. And I take my cynical hat off to them.

The stock lost roughly 10% in value on the day the company had their call with shareholders. I think that has a lot more to do with the horrible revenues they announced and the reduced forecasted earnings than John's comments on the NFL.

Yeah. You're probably right. But the coincidence is still funny to me.
