HOU QB Deshaun Watson tore ACL - out for season

The NFL this year is turning into a war of attrition, last man standing will be the winner...

Now Cleveland can say, "I told you so"..

Seems like the Texans could field about 20% of the all IR starting lineup (though Watson would be the backup to Rodgers).

Sucks for him (especially) and the NFL as he was getting exciting to watch.

im feel a lot better about keeping both smith AND cousins on my roster and just rotating out kickers and defenses.

I cant even remember who the host was but yesterday on SportsHub someone was making a great point that the NFL has almost zero marketable stars left this year..

OBJ
Rodgers
Watt/Mercilus
Luck
Palmer
Watson
Tannehill (yes I know a bit of stretch)
Edelman
Elliot (I dont think they want to be heavily marketing him anyway right now)
Even good young starts like Mariota and Carr are hobbled...

Point being is that the whole league is just a big dumpster fire right now in terms of quality of star players in any given game....For example, who really wants to watch Bills/Jets game last night?

So who do you have left that you would turn on a game just to see play?
Brady - yes
Alex Smith/Hunt? No thanks
Big Ben/Antonio Brown/Bell - Maybe..
Dak/Zeke?

For a league that is already suffering a ratings decline this isnt good.

Josh McCown:D
Didn't you see that youngster whip the powerful Buffalo Bills last night?

Colin will be called out for being hypocrite the second he signs

Bob McNair signing Watson? LOL.

There's a better chance of Andy Johnson criticizing the Patriots, and we all know that's never gonna happen;)

Tough break for Houston hope Deshaun Watson have a speedy recovery. But there is enough talent of that Team to take that division with a decent QB. Bob likes Tom Savage we will now see if what he thought about Savage was misplaced.

That's a bummer for them.

I also want to take this time to say all you f**ks that were whining about the defense against Houston well they played better against Watson than Seattle did.

Wow, dude, a bit strong there.

Let's just say EVERYONE should have been concerned about the Pats defense following two stinkers (at home) against the Texans and Panthers, two teams that going into the game had offenses that needed a GPS to find the end zone.

Did Watson turn out to be great? Sure, but everyone still should have been worried about the Pats defense at the time.

Agreed, anyone with 2 eyes and a brain was concerned about how this defense was performing against teams that aren't offensive juggernauts (turns out Houston was with Watson)

They were giving up the most ppg in NFL history over the first 4 weeks... that is a legitimate thing to be concerned and upset about

It's awesome to see them turning it around and are now at 13ppg.. practically shutting out the Falcons was pretty awesome!

That sucks, the Texans could've done so much this year if the injury thing worked out in their favor, but they lost like everybody.

Imagine being in Week 1 and hearing that your team has the best defensive roster in the league and that your rookie QB will set records and post 40+ points a game.... but will have a losing record in the worst division in the league mid-season ... and it just gets horribly worse from there.

Umm, he benched Tom Savage half way through the 1st game of the season for sucking...

The Jags, as strange as it is to say, are in the driver’s seat in that division now.

I know, strange, right?

Imagine if they acquired Garrapolo......obviously it would have had to have been a king's ransom for the Pats to make a fellow AFC team a contender.

Yeah I thought the Jags would be gone hot and heavy on him. It’s possible, and likely, that Bill wouldn’t have wanted to trade him to a team within the conference - let alone a team with the kind of defense they have.

Yep, this has to be one of the least fun and exciting NFL seasons I can remember, league-wide. It seems like the news cycle is "devastating injury, lawsuit, boring game, political squabbling, devastating injury."

Watson was just the kind of player the league needed, an exciting young QB who even opposing fans like us rooted for. Best wishes for his recovery, it can't come soon enough.

This really sucks. Watson is an easy person to root for. Seems to be a total class guy, and winner. I hope he makes a full recovery.

You make points worth considering, however, one thing you're missing: what may be correct/logical vs what's acceptable as a majority/politically/PR. Too often the latter wins that battle.

Of course. But short term business/political/PR wins are already showing mid term concerns of sustainability. Not that I would have much expectations..

McNair already drafted and signed Watson

Lets just say nobody should be concerned about anything on a BB coached team based on September games. Ever.
