Lots of people say things about the future and never follow through on them.

Must we put such credence in a one-off quote?

Well, the man said it. And BB seems like a resolute kind of guy.

Yeah kinda surprised, you'd have to think he has a better shot of getting snaps there.

But maybe he decided to embrace the backup role in an organization he knows and apparently likes after years of trying to make it work elsewhere.
And maybe he sees NE as his last best chance for a ring......That is something people carry with them..
Slightly OT but relevant. I was at a conference several years ago and sat down in the last remaining seat and chatted up the guy next to me. Didn't think of it until somebody at break asked me if I knew who he was. Nope. He played O Line for the Colts in SB 5 ( Colts beat Cowboys on last second FG) and then I noticed the SB ring that he was wearing......40 years later.. It matters to those guys...

Was it Dan Sullivan. He was an exec with a food broker in New England. I met him once at a grocery industry conference. He did wear his ring....great guy

Wow WTF it's been 6 years he left NE? d%#*!@t that's more than half a decade, time is flying fast.

Let's hope he never steps on to the field!

I like the signing, if for nothing else that the minority on the board who were suggesting moving from Brady to Jimmy sometime soon have to find something else to post about.
Nah. They're just hiding in the bushes, ready to jump out and say "I told you so," if Brady gets injured or things don't go according to plan for the rest of the season.

I agree. I can guarantee Kaep has been more busy being an SJW than staying in shape or watch a single minute of tape.

This seems like hyperbole. Or are you friends with him? Not sure how you could guarantee it otherwise.

I'm no Nostradumbazz but I saw this comin a mile away!

Yup, and someone will say (formal complaint or not) that part of the deal with SF was that they release Hoyer, with us having already spoken to him.

Of course, his agent entertained calls from other teams.

My understanding is that he signed with San Francisco as a free agent, so if he is traded he maintains that free agent signee status with the receiving team. Compensatory picks are distributed based on free agents gained vs free agents lost. So if we traded for him he would count as a free agent addition for us which would offset the free agent loss of Bennett.

Always liked Hoyer for how he came in and won the job from that 3rd round pick I forget. We tagged him, but then let him go for $$ reasons. More than any other Patriot I have followed his career. Very good QB mind and perfect player to backup Brady. If it is a playoff game and he has to come in, lot more experience than Jimmy G.

His biggest problem is he is small and gets hurt. 3 years as Brady's backup with potential to direct a team as talented as the Patriots. Good move on his part.

Trading with SF and getting Hoyer offsets the perceived lower value draft pick. No other trade had Hoyer coming back. All weighs in.

Very glad we were able to sign him. I was worried that another QB needy team was going out-bid us.

:)

Do you really believe that there were no discussions with Hoyer before the trade was made?

For the record, I prefer *ANYONE* over Kaep. That POS can stay unemployed by the NFL for as long as he can play, as far as I'm concerned.

The owners agree; she shouldn't be signed no matter how good a prospect he is at QB. And if he isn't signed soon, this will likely be the finding of a judge.

Kevin O'Connell was the guy who Hoyer beat out. He threw all of six passes in the NFL, all with the Patriots in 2008. He's the current quarterbacks coach for the Redskins and considered a rising star in coaching circles.

Guess it worked out for both O'Connell and Hoyer, in the end.

The idea that hoyer knows/remembers every aspect of the offense is ridiculous. He has a lot to learn. Even McD says so.
