2017 . Trade Deadline . thread

Don't we have enough smaller D-lineman though? I'd think we'd need a bigger lineman if we traded for a D-lineman. In 2018 it would be ok to take a flyer on him I suppose.
I think we have enough fattys; although I’m not opposed to adding another. Brown & VV should be back within the next couple of weeks & we also have Angelo Blackson on our PS. If anything, we need a pass rusher. Knowing BB, a guy like Wolfe would be ideal since he’s able to play DE/DT, stop the run & get after the QB.
BB loves those 6’5 280-300lb guys.

That's if VV comes back though. Does anyone know for sure?

I've been wondering. I thought he was eligible to begin practicing with the team this week.

Could be that he's not ready. Could be that Mitchell has gotten closer and they're delaying a decision between the two (can only designate one).

Could be that there is something in the works, trade-wise, and they're waiting to see how that works out before making a move to designate anybody.

I think, depending upon health at their positions, that BB will feel he needs VV more than MM but I hope GG doesn’t get more playing time because of injuries because I’ll need a DD for games if the defense reverts to Carolina game levels.
I think it's moot. I don't think Mitchell will be healthy enough to play.

"Nov. 3 is the first day that Vincent Valentine can start practicing"

That's too bad for a Patriot guy that had a David Givens type trajectory written on him. We could have used him for sure. Good luck on rehab and look forward to seeing him back next year.

But at this point I have my doubts Mitchell could have made a 2016 type impact in the remaining 2017 season. 2016 was his raison detre year but one year doesn't establish oneself concretely. He's just missed too much time this year for a skill position player only really 1 year established. I could be wrong but mid November for his first meaningful route and pass catching has me skeptical he would be targeted much (if he came back in November and started racking up catches? He's better than David Givens trajectory and we've struck gold).

Targets are not thin for Brady. Yes he's missing his top target and we all know it is showing. But nonetheless decent targets are there. White, Gronk, DA, Cooks, Hogan (get Lewis the ball in some space a few times!)....is a MUCH better group than some years (recall we actually needed/had to rely on....ummm.....what's his damn name that we drafted 4(5?) years ago but he never could stay on the field or get it going). Plus I keep hoping that Dorsett is going to be a contributor. I see it in him, it is just a matter of if Dorsett can show Brady he not only has it but can do it consistently (Brady and BB just don't take to guys who can't be consistent).

Mitchell had question marks about his health coming out of school. One reason he was able to the Pats. I think he's always going to have to be carefully managed. Hopefully after this year off he'll be on a better trajectory.

Was this latest injury a re-occurrence of a college injury?

Always thought the whole IR thing and only two can return is ********, if you have a couple of players who get a significant injury in September and completely recover by the end of November let them play.. why the f.. do they pay these guys when they can essentially play and have recovered???

Even a guy like Eric Rowe, he has been out 3 weeks now, let him go to some inactive and injured list and let him recover, and fill the vacancy on the roster.. when he is healthy enough let him come back to the roster.

This one is a darkhorse. BB tried to trade for him in 2015 & put bracket coverage on him in the 2016 game. Graham seems like one of BB’s guys. I think I’d cut Dwayne Allen & offer something small if they are willing to dump him for cap reasons (I’m aware Graham can’t block. Allen can’t do either).

Jimmy Graham Contract Details, Salary Cap Charges, Bonus Money | Over The Cap

Graham would have just 1 year 4.2 million in cap left on his deal in a trade.

Would a Waddle for Graham trade work?

Get rid of Allen's useless ass and get Graham. Matthew Mulligan gave us more production in 2013 then Allen

Because Jack Kent Cooke of the Redskins used to stash a whole second team on IR to hold on to players. The restrictions were a response to that.
