Well isn't that a pleasant surprise! o_O

Thanks!:D

With Gilmore and Rowe out, that leaves only Butler and Jones at CB. Nickel and dime situations will call for an extra safety. Only other CB is Jonathan Bademosi. He has played 100 snaps so far this season: 100 on ST, zero on defense.

Can't afford an injury to either Butler or Jones, regardless of who the Jets have at WR.

Can the Pats secondary cover WR Josh McCown?

Josh McCown was Lions WR last time he played Patriots

NFL Network's Kimberly Jones relayed the story on NFL GameDay Morning on Sunday:

"Jon Kitna was the starting quarterback. He threw an interception that was the receivers fault," Jones said. "Offensive coordinator Mike Martz told McCown: 'Get your gloves.' He benched the receiver, and Josh McCown played out of the slot in the entire second half. He told me he had a blast. He had a couple catches. He said a third was nullified by a pass interference call that he still disputes ... McCown says today he's very much looking forward to playing quarterback against Bill Belichick and the Patriots."

Ahhhh the Rod Marinelli Lions.

McCown might still be the 3rd-best WR on the Jets too.

It is odd that Belichick would retain a veteran who is inactive on a weekly basis (Harris) rather than use that roster spot on a player with more long term potential (Kenny Moore, Conor McDermott, Austin Carr, DJ Foster, LeShun Daniels, etc.). If nothing else those guys could have played special teams while also supplying emergency depth.

I guess we're at-home tailgating (except whoever's at the game).

We got a ton of really beautiful filet mignon that was on sale when 2 stepsons visited a couple weeks ago... froze a couple, just made a steak sandwich before getting on here.

If I knew we were tailgating I'd have took a picture so everybody could have some. Sort of.

I'm interested to see whether we get scheme discipline on defense or freelancing. I was worried about run D vs TB but was assured that the big runs were allowed due to scheme not play. sure enough, scheme changed, run D became stingier.

I wonder over 10 days whether "freelancing" has been tamped down further, or whether it reemerges... I hope/think not... though have also read of scheme adjustments to maximize individual talent that's on the field. Will count on the smart football people to help w/smart people commentary... it's an enormous advantage to being on this site w/one eye on the game and the other eye on the thread.

Career high #s today from mccown?

Sorry, still shaking off cognitive dissonance of seeing "career high" and "McCown" in same sentence. I guess you could call it a career...

Is it possible we have Jonathan ****ing Jones as our number 2 corner against the Falcons?

good . works better . reason for Harris inactive

Wise maybe going from a situational role to starter snaps similar to Flowers last year. Result is Hightower at LB.

YES

Bademosi! Let's see if it translates to actual game. Like to see what he has..

McCown second in league with 71% completion rate. But he does fumble--6 times with only 2 lost however.

Turnover day maybe. And maybe a big run day, for a change. Give Brady a bit of a break from his several injuries and injured left shoulder. Go offensive line!!

And pressure on McCown, pretty please!!
