Stephon Gilmore

Can’t bring myself to write him off as a bad fit and the reason the defense is bad like some people have been. There hasn’t been a bright spot thus far, and the saints game was the only palatable defensive game and they still gave up a bunch of gash plays.

Gilmore is a shutdown corner. He has the size and athleticism you want in a corner. Maybe he’s struggling to get it right now and needs to improve his communication with the rest of the secondary. We’re four games deep and I think reality’s setting in that this kind of play from the secondary is beyond unacceptable. He’ll figure it out and show us why the brass invested so much in him, or he’ll continue to be a Buffalo Bill and this stint won’t last long. I think he’ll figure it out, and I sure hope so. But ease off the guy, the rest of the secondary hasn’t done much. Safety play has been absolutely putrid this year. Pointing the finger at one guy for all these woes is short sighted, IMO.

LOL. The Patriots listed Stephon Gilmore as "Limited Participation" for today's practice. I'll tell you what, Gilmore gets a big fat "Limited Participation" for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

I'm still a little confused why Belichick reached for Gilmore giving him such a great contract. Bills fans I've talked to have said he was inconsistent: flashes of brilliance, great talent, but a tendency to get burnt (they joked that the people mad he was leaving were mad because they were going to miss the burnt toast memes).

What did Belichick see in him that many posters are not seeing in him now?

Yep. Besides Gilmore's got-paid-don't-care issues, it's also quite possible that both Chung & McCourty have fallen off the cliff at the same time.

Definitely seen enough of mccourty to know the contact he signed a few years ago will be his last in NE

Surely bills fans are better at evaluating a corner than bill belichick.

Here is a discussion on their board last October when they were talking about what sucker team might be willing to trade for him:
[Misleading Title]Gilmore Trade - The Stadium Wall Archive - Buffalo Bills Community

Here's one quote:
We should trade him for a bag of balls and a kicking tee... about what he is worth.

Not saying I agree with it....I'm just sayin'...

Funny one here:
Gilmore has the Forrest Gump syndrome. He's like a box of chocolates. You never know what week he's gonna show up.

Really interesting one from C Biscuit:
The hate people have for Gilmore is really weird here. Sometimes we overrate Bills players here. He is a the opposite case where the rest of the league values him more.

Either way, he is going to make a lot of money and not play on a team that never makes the players where he gets blamed for everything.

Seems he became a scapegoat in Buffalo....Things that make you go..hmm...

Again if you want to think bills fans are better judges of talent than BB be my guest.

So you are telling me you think a novice can evaluate football players better than bill belichick? Ok.

Shouldn’t he be getting as much participation in practice as possible at this point?

And yet here we are now. He’s on a different team, makes a lot of money as they predicted, yet he’s still getting blamed for a lot of the issues. Things that make you go..hmm...

I wonder if McCourty might be better suited at SS now. Cover te's and still a good tackler vs run and could play him closer to the LOS. Would allow us to get faster in back end with a younger and quicker FS.

It's way too soon to tell: he has been a loyal backbone Patriot, and it all depends what his expectations are on his next contract.

I'm saying that while Belichick is amazing, he isn't a god. Were you one of the people defending Ras I Dowling util the second he was let go, or did you trust your eyes?

He will be 33 if we resigned him at that point. IMO better to find a cheaper younger option to take over in the next few years

Are you referring to Harmon, forgot about him, or ready to get rid of him as well?

We could have drafted FS Landon Collins at 32 in 2015 but we liked Malcolm Brown better. Collins has turned out the much better player

Short-term willing to try. Long-term would be to draft or sign a free safety.
