Good win today. Hopefully Gronk & Burkehead, Rowe aren't out long term. Either way, letting Bennett go looks like a huge mistake.

Houston & Carolina should absolutely be wins. There's no excuse to possibly lose to a rookie QB and the kitties at home. TB will be the big challenge.

Anyways your thoughts on Houston?

Small WRs just can't take big hits

Bennett was quite clear that he wanted to move on. People need to stop with the tired narrative that it was a "mistake" to let Bennett go. Our offense has put up 27 and 36 points, and that's with numerous injuries and misfires. If we executed cleanly, today was a 50+ point demolition. As it was, Brady threw for ~ 450 yards. What more do you want from the offense?

My biggest worry about Gronk is his injury history. After so many, even a supposedly minor injury can be a big deal. Looking ahead, I hope the Pats draft someone like Tyrone Wheatley, big Michigan TE, in the 2018 draft.

The Houston and Carolina defenses are worlds apart from the New Orleans defense. The Panthers gave up only one first down in the first half today, and zero touchdowns on the season (six points allowed).

Fortunately for the Patriots the Texan offense is impotent. I would hesitate to portray the game against the Panthers as one that the Patriots 'should absolutely win' though.

Wise Jr was a good surprise.

Dorset overachieved my expectation for this point in the season.

I was hoping for a bit more from Cooks, but it is still early in the season so we will see.

The injuries are adding up though. Rowe is a big loss, if he misses time

For Gronk, yes he has the back history, but I think it is also his playing style. Meaning if you had a player without the history playing the same way Gronk plays, I think that player would also have the same injuries. I did not really see Gronks injury last year so that is the one I am unsure about.

Mild disappointment (emphasis on mild) special teams in terms of covering return. Attributed to Slater out?

The Texans defense is among the best in the league. The offensive line better be solid (certainly better than they were against a weak Saints defense) to protect our offensive weapons. If Amendola returns, the short passing game should be back to somewhere near normal. It was good to see White catching the short dump passes like he did last year.

Probably down their starting corners or otherwise very limited. Puts a big dent in that defense.

If the Pats' offense executed cleanly, they'd have put up 40 in the first week and 50 this week. Even with all the injuries they're lighting up the scoreboard. And this is without, really, the benefit of turnovers.

If we can field a couple of receivers.

Lol true but they will be fine by next week. No one seemed to big, and they kept some out due to the lead.

My guess is that the Patriots will sign a WR or two to strengthen the offense. Brady would be okay if Kenbrell Thompkis came back, I imagine. Tony Washington is unsigned and he looked okay in camp.

Houston will be tough but should be a win. The Pats D needs to show up and dominate. It can't depend on the O to win this game. If they give up a bunch of big pass plays and let Houston have a bunch of redzone trips because of it this could be trouble. Hopefully they have their best game of the year (particularly the DBs) and shut down that offense. No reason they can't. Houston has scored 20 points on the year. No reason to allow even 20 points this game. Also 7 of their points was a huge QB run of 49 yards which is unforgivable from any NFL D.

I am not saying I don't think the Pats can score on this team. I just think they shouldn't have to. The D took a few good steps yesterday compared to last week. Now build on it and bully an O you should be able to.

The threats on Houston on offense are Hopkins and.... well just him. Their run game stinks. Miller can catch a few passes I guess but their run game has been bad.

On D they are monstrous at times as well all know but if you stop that pass rush you can win against that D. Hopefully the OL keeps Brady upright. Also I would like to test that run D. I think it is good but not what it was last year.

It was a mistake not petitioning to the league for additional roster spots - and cap room - to keep Bennett, and Blount, and Carr, and Edelman's ACL, and, and, and...

Why bring in either of them when they have Cody Hollister on the PS. Hollister is a guy they kept over Tony Washington and has been here for 2 more weeks..

Honestly considering that Allen has yet to get a catch its looking more like a mistake now than it was before the season started.

As to what more do we want from the offense? How about scoring more than 3 points in the 4th Q over 2 games. You might point out that we didn't have Gronk in the 4Q against NO. But that just highlights how not getting a competent TE2 hurts the team.

Luckily we were up against a NO defense that Brady absolutely shredded in the 1st half. If that Pats only manage 17 points instead of 30 in the 1st half then the game might have been much more... interesting... in the 2nd half.

It would be nice if our defense made Watson look like a rookie and not a season vet. We will see.

I agree though Ayers also can return punts and I don't like using Chung. Problem with any additional is the price of a roster slot.
