JG will be franchised. IMO
Then traded IMO

Spending 24 mill on a backup QB is nuts. Will you franchise him again for 28 mill to backup in 2019?

If you listen to Lombardi he seems to say the opposite and also says that BB is one fof the best at that. Dont let need drive your draft.

BB has repeatedly said about the exact opposite of drafting the BPA. The fact is, unless you have an early first round pick, you don't know who the best player available is. They will have have a dozen or more players with similar rankings. They try to find guys in similar rankings that can potentially help the team. If the team is strong at a position that fits the concept of BPA and don't see a player of need they prefer to find someone else. Sometimes that means trading down. They always try to envision how that player could make the team and help the team. BB has said this a number of times when talking about team building. He has said over and over again that they are not collecting talent, but building a team. Outside of early first round picks, the BPA is a myth.

i would love to know how the trade went down

Irsay: WE NEED JACOBYBRISSETTOMGWE'LLHANGABANNER

BB: Um...how about...oh what will you give up you drugged-up moron...Phillip Dorsett? He's a bust, right?

Irsay:OMGDONEDONEDONEDONEDONEI'MPRINTINGTHEBANNERNOW...SUCKER!

BB: Thanks for Duane Allen, by the way.

Something like that.

Exactly my point. Drafting out of need is how you get stuck with players who don't live up to their draft status. BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE, plain and simple. Its what everyone preaches bill does, and look what happened when he forgot that approach. With the way we made trades (hicks), and signed FA's (branch) is easy to argue that picking brown over collins was a huge mistake.

Actually, Bill does not draft BPA. He drafts for need, pretty consistently. Look back at any draft class, he's always plugging gaps in the roster with prospects he thinks can make a difference.

He is just a much better evaluator of talent.

But, he won't draft the "top rated" DE on the board, if that's his need. He will target the DE that he likes, whether that means trading up or down or reaching for him much earlier than consensus.

Yes sometimes that's works, and other times he ends up with jermaine cunningham, jake bequette, and geneo grissom

With these acquisitions let's hope we don't see anymore bombs to gronk. We need the guy to stay healthy.

Someone is gonna be running free somewhere on the field, with this cast of characters in Foxboro...no D can contain them all. It really is a beautiful thing.

hard to ever fathom what the Pats will do from year to year but it LOOKS like McD has two WR options that require defenses to double team deep. Pick your poison. If defenses do double Cooks, Dorsett will blow by single coverage. If teams decide to zone cover 2 or cover 6, they will be eaten alive by the short passing game and James White. Take the time to think about this new offensive look...it's sorta like the Moss offensive look except now we have two Moss's, speed wise. It is vital our offensive line stay healthy and play adequate pass protection. If this occurs, this offense quite possible could be the best in BB's tenure as head coach of the NEP.

Going to be an interesting next couple of days, I assume we might try and add some depth on the o-line and who knows their could be a trade. We can also bring back bolden as well. For a lot of these guys it jus be nerve wracking

Agree.

The key is the line both run and pass.

In 07 they had Moss and Stallworth do they had speed to burn.

The problem with that team was they didn't have the pass catching depth after those two, Faulk and WW or the hard runners after Morris got hurt.

The 2017 group of pass catchers is absurd.

They can run the ball

Health is the key.

Billy often looks for players he has scouted and rated highly that he just couldn't draft to fall through the cracks elsewhere. He is the best HC and he can get something great out of this guy, if anybody can. It's a good deal. He has a new extremely talented guy to see what he can bring out in him. As far as Brissett, if Billy lets you go, invariably you aren't going to do much elsewhere. He is rather impeccable on the outgoing, not so much with the incoming.

It's interesting to note that PD had about as good or better a year least season as Mitchell, but I see a lot of "he sucks" about the former and a lot of "he's good" about the later.

I expect after PD makes a few catches for us the faithful will be singing his praises.

Don't think they want him to do much apart from hold a clipboard, be paid almost minimum salary and be better than Scott Tolzien, it's not a high bar he has to reach.

Dorsett seems like injury insurance too, the trade makes sense but both of these guys rarely see the field unless something bad happens maybe Dorsett gets 10 snaps a game.

The Colts had been shopping Dorsett and the Pats probably only wanted to keep 2 quarterbacks, if this trade doesn't go down there's a good chance both guys were getting cut anyway.

It's also pretty clear that a new GM change in Indy has seen most of the bad blood between the organisations go out the window, Ballard has been in charge for 1 off season and there's been multiple trades already, looks like Bill thinks deflategate was purely a Grigson thing more than a Colts thing.

Bravo...BRAVO, my friend (hand clapping loudly in the background)!!!

Tom could very well throw his arm off this year...maybe that's the master plan, so Jimmy G steps in.
I'd bet this team is gonna be low on carries...the screen game is clearly going to be the running game, with this crew.
Defenses will be cooked.

Indy Star not big Dorsett fans... From May 2017
Is the clock ticking for Colts' Phillip Dorsett?

He was def on the outs there. No question.

From the front office to the players everyone has under achieved.

Can Josh help him out with creativity and possibly moving him around a bit?

He should see some great match ups considering every DC will have their ****ting pants on trying to stop Gronk, Hogan, Cooks, Dola, Mitchell, Lewis, White, Rex, Allen & Gillislee.

Jacoby wasn't in Bill's future.

Our team speed is arguably the best in the league now.

And no team is as capable of utilizing the short, intermediate and long areas of the field as us.
