Question:

Since Goodell was at tonight's game, does that (in his mind at least) qualify when he stated that he would be at the Patriots home opener?

I wouldn't put it past him, in order to avoid having to appear when fans wear their clownout shirts and the fifth banner is unveiled in week one versus KC.

I'm guessing one guy works for Exponent, another for Ted Wells, and the third is an intern at 345 Park Avenue, and that NFL security had that particular ramp fully blocked off.
By tomorrow morning, we;ll know their names....
As an aside, check out coverage of Goodell's visit on PFT and off themonster sports....
Let's just say the articles resemble each other very, very closely..............
I am not sure which was posted first but(EDIT- I don't know which was published first)..

Roger Goodell drops by Gillette Stadium

Posted by Josh Alper on August 10, 2017, 8:01 PM EDT

Roger Goodell’s extended absence from Gillette Stadium was expected to end when the Patriots and Chiefs kicked off the regular season next month, but Goodell decided to call an audible on Thursday night.

Goodell is at the Patriots-Jaguars exhibition game and was spotted by Ben Volin of the Boston Globe visiting with Patriots owner Robert Kraft in Kraft’s box. Volin adds that Goodell was in the Boston area on Thursday and decided to “pop in” for the preseason contest.

It’s the first time that Goodell has been in the stadium since the 2015 AFC Championship Game, which the Patriots won on their way to a Super Bowl title. That was followed by the league penalizing the team and suspending quarterback Tom Brady as a result of Deflategate. Those decisions were not well received by the Patriots fan base and Goodell’s absence from the 2015 season opener was noted with derisive cheers from the crowd.

Goodell will be at this year’s opener, however, and what’s expected to be a hostile reaction to his presence from the crowd probably won’t be diminished by Thursday’s unadvertised visit.

Knowing Roger, he’s going to forgo the regular season opener and call this his visit. Would be a typical Roger clown move. Not sure if this visit is in addition to week 1, w

Felger was just orgasmic about this on the Comcast post game and at his Pats fans trolling best.

I'm actually interested to see how the Cyrus Jones at Safety idea would turn out.

He's far more physically gifted that Jordan Richards. Perhaps it turns out to be a McCourty-like situation.

There's far more upside to Cy Jones than Jordan Richards. Jones can improve alot. Richards, well, Richards we've all seen his ceiling and it's quite low.

Smart kid, though. He'll go back to school and cure cancer or something. I wish him the best.

I truly hope Jones goes home tonight and doesn't get too down on himself - - the stuff I read in the offseason led me to believe he was quite despondent about his first year. Worryingly despondent. I hope he keeps his chin up and that BB tries him out at Safety.

Carr would be a brutal cut, he will be in the league for 10 years, and be productive.

They Jags never threw in K Moore's direction.

Hard to see C Jones making the team.

Hollister made a strong statement to be the #3 TE.

liked the work from Langi, Wise (before his concussion), Rivers and Butler on the D

Daniels made a case for the PS tonight.

Carr, Hollister (TE), Butler and Moore never make it through waivers to the PS.

Man there's gonna be some great guys let go and it's not even going to be like a 'they almost made it to the 53' sort of thing. Like 5-10 people that are gonna be painful to see go.

Is he big enough to be considered at safety, shmessy? That would be a concern for me.

Devin McCourty, 5'10", 195
Cyrus Jones, 5'10" 201

So, yes, except McCourty can tackle. He could always tackle. That was never an issue when he was making the transition.

I saw Jones matador at least three runs that came right at him tonight. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Carr had a good game, but I just don't see where he fits considering the WR position is so stacked. For all we know, he's another Brian Tyms or Zach Sudfeld. Or one of many pre-season heroes who I can't remember.

I'll trust Belichick's decision on him and refrain from getting too excited over a performance vs the Jags' 3rd & 4th string guys.

Has Carr been beating Butler or Gilmore in camp?

The only difference with Carr and Hollister, and Tyms/Sudfeld/Harper/Thompkins/etc etc - is that these two were starting and playing against 1s.

Fauria claimed that was supposed to be a quick pass, hence Waddle's cut block
And he was right. Waddle did exactly what was assigned.

I don't think Jax had many 1s out there in the secondary.

Their top 3 CBs Ramsey, Bouye, Colvin were sitting.

Hi Patsfans!

so...how did Cyrus Jones look on the tube tonight?

multiply that by 10,000 and that's how he looked live in the Razor. Are you kidding me? He sucks at....wait for it....EVERYTHING! Cannot do ANYTHING. Never mind getting beat like a cripple on a 93 YD TD, or outrun by six strides on another one....hge SUCKS at kick returning. He's the freakin' Mark Sanchez of kick returners.

and please stop the "Jordan Richards took some bad angles that led to big plays tonight"...uh, no...Jordan Richards is S-L-O-W....THAT led to giving up big plays tonight.

The rest of the night I spent watching the rook WR's and that TE make plays and show toughness...nice night.

So the freakin' Goon snuck in ,huh? damned punk rich kid narcissist...I'd love just FIVE minutes alone in a locked room with ol' Rog the sleazebag...

The catches on the two balls thrown behind him especially the TD pass weren't Tyms, Sudfeld plays.

On the 2nd drive Richards pointed at the line and shouted at a DL on the edge (Longi I think) who adjusted and then stopped the run for a 4th and short. The Jags converted on 4th and short, but I think that play is an example of why Richards is the type of player who might last another season on this team.

But I'd rather see Bolden and King get roster spots over him, personally. I've been rooting for the kid but he just doesn't have the speed to make up if he makes a wrong move as happened a few times. :(

I think people wrote Bolden off the team way too early. They seem to be looking at him as a RB versus being a ST only player. I've been saying that it's 50/50, but that could be much higher if someone like Slater starts on IR.
