Most content is simply a stream of data that it would be hard to trace back to a consumer of the data unless you share it from your location.

Some people use VPN to mask their identity. I so seldom actually stream anything that I don't bother.

Basically you download an image to an SD card called NOOBS then pop it in your Raspberry Pi and turn it on. Configure it to boot to OBMC and Raspian if you want a Linux desktop (I never use it). It prompts you to select the OS at startup.

Configuring Kodi is easy once you know where to click.

There's a number of other ways to get Kodi on Raspberry Pi 3 as well. I recommend LibreELEC myself as it's fairly straight forward.
