If there was ever any doubt.

The clown was at his favorite teams camp yesterday.

Their rookie first round pick Safety Adams was being asked about player safety. He made a comment like if I have to die somewhere it would be great to go on the football field.

The reporter asked something like, so you are willing to risk brain issues later in life to play now?

The clown enters and says to the reporter, the thing is NFL players live 5 years longer than you in average. They live longer and are healthier.

I can't think of a worse way for a guy in his position to answer that or characterize 90% of his league having brain issues.

Oh BSPN were all over that yesterday, NOT! They totally failed to mention Goodell's response and just focused solely on what Jamal Adams said.

Has Goodell played football at any level ? His responses in general make me think he has CTE.

Wouldn't you need to compare the life span of the typical NFL player to a similar group of superior fit athletes, but WITHOUT the daily head trauma? Not just to the average daily slob out there.

But hey, it's a good legal strategy.

The study was conducted on players with at least five years in the NFL, who played in the league from 1959 to 1988. A few things to consider.

- This is a group of professional athletes. As such, they should in theory be in far superior physical shape than the general population - and therefore be expected to live longer.

- Professional athletes make more money than the general population; that additional wealth should in theory give the majority access to a healthier diet, more knowledge of the benefits of exercise and a healthy life style, and most importantly, better health care.

- Look at the difference in the size of today's players versus players from 1959 to 1988. Today's players are much bigger. That means more potential for injuries (such as concussions). It also means more potential problems such as heart disease down the road.

- The study looked only at life expectancy; it did not look at quality of life. It did not, for example, compare how many had trouble walking, or how many were incapable of caring for themselves. The study did not address the cognitive and mental health issues that have recently been linked to repeated blows to the head and that currently dominate the conversation about player safety.

- Goodell embellished (lied) about the report by adding "and healthier" to his comment about living longer. The report never studied nor reported on whether or not retired pro football players were healthier than an average male of the same age.

- The study referenced by Goodell was first completed in 1994. It's probably time to undergo another study that looks beyond the strict confines of life expectancy.

************.

What a moron.

If he stuck to the player safety narrative he would have been fine.

This man has no scruples.

Worst attempt to redirect and spin in the history of mankind.

Martellus Bennett responds to Jets rookie who said he would ‘die on the field’ - The Boston Globe

"....He tweeted on Monday: “I hope All these young cats that are willing to die for the game of football find a higher purpose in life......”

......and Goodell, by his response to this Adams' kid's immature comments, once and for all proves that he is nothing more than a corporate vampire.

.....and the Jets season ticket holders who APPLAUDED this kid's bleatings, once and for all prove everything said about Jets fans. I know I am biased, but for the life of me, I cannot imagine Patriot season ticket holders applauding a young man saying that. I just can't.

.

Wow! "Longer than you"....longer than who? The average human being?
And with major CTE, living longer is not a relevant metric, other than how many years of suffering it entails.
I understand there is a major Communications job open right now...perhaps we can have him assigned to it.

That's very true, and I would add that nowadays the players are in better shape, training year round (a trend which probably started in the late 80s early 90s), which means they are probably faster than players from the 60s and 70s.

With bigger players who run faster, it means more force is generated on each hit nowadays than 40 or 50 years ago. From a CTE standpoint, that's not good news if we are to believe that CTE is caused by repetitive hit to the head....the force taken on each blow to the head today is much higher than 40 years ago.

Of all the BS this ***hole has spouted in his life, that comment was the most insidiously ignorant and idiotic. It screamed out loud, " Youe all dumb MFers who will believe anything I say and don't you dare question me."

Narcissistic pig at his worst.

Honestly, I've loved NFL football for 60 years, but when I hear and see the face of the NFL insult us all as that douche did, there's a part of me that would be sexually aroused to see him and all of the owners go down in flames. And while, I'm not quite done yet that type of carnal reaction doesn't occur quite as often as I'd like. But, that would do it...
