2018 Draft Prospect Thread

I'm *always* in the market for a TE that can be dominant in the running and passing game, but my one concern with this guy is that he's missing a finger. I know he's survived this long without it, but my concern persists as he reaches higher levels of competition where finger-tip grabs become more important.

Hrmm. . . . I'm not sure if a missing finger is worse than a mangled one.

The interesting thing about Lazard to me was that he is a useful and willing blocker (not all of the time though) showing nice attitude for a WR stud (and possible future star) at 6'4, 223.

(the obvious thing being he is a potential matchup nightmare, showing good hands and routs also YAC that is still a work in progress)

And in this film (besides some nice catches) at one moment he is used as line blocker (as a blocking TE). Extremely tall but tough. Intriguing.

(at the moment he is all over the boards . he still needs to find consistency . but certainly intriguing to monitor)

They got a nice duo now.

Just goes you how hard it is to make it. He got a 5th-7th/udfa grade this past draft.

Hopefully he can stay healthy, work on some drops and improve on his strengths. Speaking of which, I'd be curious if he blocks inline lil more this year or used any differently, even a lil bit?

Great game blocking&receiving&YAC by Goedert . mini Gronk.
(I bet he could be useful on ST as well)
Some interesting TE talent to watch also in 2018..

Where do you like him? Not a 100% sold yet.

I'm not interested in a majority of the big names at QB. Pass on Allen (only for intangibles), Darnold and Rosen (intangibles and physical reasons, more mechanics for the former and physical ability for the latter), Mayfield (he sucks, and he gets into trouble), Lamar Jackson (no interest in a more raw Michael Vick), Mason Rudolph (zero experience dropping back, bad throwing motion). I'm sure I missed others, but assume they are on this list.

Really, there's not a single QB in college ball that jumps out at me as a future NFL star. I've gone through quite a few guys that might be eligible for the next draft, and I found nothing I'm convinced about. That being said, here are a few guys that I like for one reason or another:

Keller Chryst
Wilton Speight
Brandon Harris
Mike White
Clayton Forson
Brandon Silvers

Strongly disagree about Baker but that's prob bc I just love watching him.

Devante Kincade. He's a guy that has everything you want. Needs some tweaking but hes under the radar now but won't be for long

Kyle Hicks HB TCU 5'10" 210

This guy looks good. Put him at the top of my running backs list. My top 3 running backs are probably Hicks, Royce Freeman, and Damien Harris (Alabama).

I like Hicks a lot myself, really good all around back. He could be a good one.

You have to have Derrius in there and Barkley is pretty good too. Derrius could special tho.

Grice and Barkley are in there, but I wouldn't pursue them early on. They seem to be the type that are better college backs than NFL backs because they don't work hard and use their athleticism rather than moves or intelligence to get yards in college.

In terms of the weight room, both are monsters. I think I posted these in my thread.

This was in March 2016. He also cleaned 390.

Here's Derrius squaring 650

Both are very hard workers in the weight room and in practice.

And as far as moves both have 2 of the best jump cuts/side steps you've seen in a long time. Barkley also uses a hurdle quite effectively and Derrius has a really nice spin. Both have a lil wiggle too.

Derrius is special imo. Powerful, not much needs to be said here. Vision, always keeps his head & eyes up. Balance,Can take a hit, make a cut etc and just keep churning or running. He's patient as well. Can read and set up his blocks and hit the hole at the right time like a bullet. If he gets a wide open hole he can do the rest and take care of the 2nd level. Very good all around back in all 3 aspects of the position nowadays.

He's in a great spot. If he stays healthy he'll prob run for a ton of yards and put unbelievable #'s.

He broke a record held (390) by Zettel who played DLine.

Thanks.

From new names Jordan Williams will be interesting to monitor. At the moment the game is too fast for him but if he is a starter this year and builds on his rapid progress could be an interesting tool to work with. I hope w confidence he can get more fluid, instinctive.

Brandon Bryant is a suspicious character and player. Still worth keeping an eye on..
___

Braden Smith certainly looks like a player. Id like the pick . but Id prefer to see some C experience for Pats IOL needs than moving to RT..

Porter Gustin is sort of a binkie already..

Great play by great prospect.
Look what J Alexander does after his interception here - at 3:03.

Instinctive, intelligent, aware, attentive, inspired player.

BTW - M. Butler was ranked #89 CB among 2014 draft prospects (nfldraftscout)
Only one other of the 88 ranked above him made it to the pro-bowl (Verrett)
Both 5'10.

In a redraft Id guess he would be the top CB pick. With a trade up..
Amazing find from West Alabama by Lombardi, BB & co

Monster bowl by my man Fumagalli.

Making highways for his RBs all day . catching in heavy traffic . incl. one handed cat catch at 0:48
