Are the Jets Tanking?

When are they not tanking? Theyve been tanking for 48 years.

Yeah, they typically do very well in the NFL, especially with the Jets.

With the Jetes sucking, wouldn't it mean if they try to tank then they'll end up having a decent season?

Perhaps this will be a "Major League" type of response from the players (with the exception of making the playoffs...that's just Hollywood scripting)

They want to go All In for Brady, hoping that Brady will retire once he wins #6. They are working on the DL with Gisele.

They are setting up for Jimmy G free agency next year. Force the patriots to franchise him to keep him away.

Decker has been a Jet for 3 years....scored 17 TDs ......despite missing most of '17.

He was very highly touted coming out of HS and was really good last season. We'll see how he does this year.

Many college QBs have gone from can't miss to worth a shot in one college season.

His biggest weakness is his delivery. It's Leftwhich-like and at times coming from his hip far too often. Once the ball is set it fires out but he has to clean it up. It will become a problem for his pass catchers and already is to a point.

He has a great arm tho and can put the ball in some really tight spaces so his guy can only get it. Great arm. Can almost bend the ball to put it where he wants.


Devante Kincade is a name to remember. Low key now but I have a feeling a lot of attention is going his way.

14 years. 18-42 win loss record. brady once had 18 wins in one year. If I wanted to tank a team thats the QB i'd pick to do it.

Agreed. The most recent example I can think of was Hackenberg. The consensus was that he was a can't miss stud in his first season before falling off a cliff after that.

He was there for 3 played for two. I never said he sucked. But the op was talkimg about loyalty. Harris has been there for 10 years and missed 4 games. I just thought he was talking about him not decker. However i conceed 3 years as a jet is a lifetime.

Tanking? For whom? There's no guy like Luck who everybody is convinced is a future superstar.

JETEs cant even tank right.

I don't think cutting David Harris is a sign that they're trying to tank. They did trade for Demario Davis last week, which was pretty clearly a move to replace Harris. They got younger at the position while getting only a little worse. As far as Decker, who knows? As OP said, it's a perfectly defensible move in its own right, getting rid of high-priced, injury-prone, underperforming veteran.

I'm not convinced they're tanking yet, when the more likely alternative explanation (IMO) is that they just suck. They don't have to try to be bad, they're just bad. And at this point I don't think either Maccagnan or Bowles is dumb enough to agree to tank, since they both saw what happened to Idzik when he pretty openly tanked. The fans turn on you, and then Woody fires you.

Read this as "Are the Jets thinking?" and I couldn't figure out why you'd ask such an obvious question. Of course not!

The Jets have decided that since anything they decide turns to sh!t they'll simply do the opposite of every decision and see where that gets them. At some point they'll get confused being the Jets, and say wait since we decided to do the opposite of everything doesn't that mean we should do the opposite of that? Heads will implode at the paradox but they aren't concerned since they all have golden parachutes to the NFL offices once they get canned.
