Patriots First Media OTA Session Thread (5/25/17)

Cooks is going to be dominant in this offense. Brady really showed off his deep ball last year and now he has an elite deep-speed receiver to throw to. Cooks can go long, short, slants, screens... ugh. It's gonna be great. And all that coverage going to Cooks and Gronk will give Edelman drastically more openings than he usually has.
Yeah, I see Cooks, Hogan and Mitchell as legitimate deep threats going into the season.

You could make the argument that Cooks has the biggest route tree of anyone Brady has ever thrown to.

Branch would be next....but didn't have Cooks deep speed.
I mostly agree. However, Branch got deep plenty while not possessing true deep speed. Branch wasn't slow either.

He was out there practicing so this isn't that big of a deal. Pats usually take time with these things anyway. OTAs is a long way away from anything.

Thought it'd be cool to have a thread on this since some media peeps have been sharing some stuff.

Some cool vids too. Looks like Gronk is back.

Thanks man for posting all this. Really Good stuff.

nice from Reiss .. salivating can officialy begin..

Back-to-back TDs for Rob Gronkowski and Brandin Cooks highlight OTA

quotes:

There was a two-play sequence in Thursday’s rain-soaked organized team activity that highlighted how the New England Patriots' offense could be lethal in 2017.

Quarterback Tom Brady first found receiver Brandin Cooks in the back right-hand corner of the end zone (cornerback Malcolm Butler was closest in coverage). Then on the next play, Brady lofted a high-arcing 20-yard rainbow to streaking tight end Rob Gronkowski up the right sideline, with Gronkowski beating safety Jordan Richards for a touchdown.

Brady was pumped. So was Gronkowski, who reverse chest-bumped fullback James Develin and receiver Julian Edelman in celebration.

“The competition level here is amazing,” Cooks said after the practice. “When you’re scoring touchdowns and going back and forth, of course it’s going to be exciting. That’s the competitive nature.”

Concerning that Brady and Garoppolo got most of the reps? They probably figured Brissett didn't need them. More evidence into my theory that both Brady and Garoppolo will not be on the roster opening day vs Kansas City.

Clearly, Brissett is the franchise QB of the future, because Bill Parcells put in a good word, and naturally, Belichick will want to do everything possible to make Parcells happy. :D

Posting this mainly for nickname lesson purposes..

“He works hard, and he’s extremely fast,” Edelman said of Cooks. “It’s not just Brandin, but it’s our whole room. We’ve got Hogs (Chris Hogan), Dola (Danny Amendola), Hawk (Andrew Hawkins) now, we’ve got Dev (Devin Lucien), Slate (Matthew Slater), Cody (Hollister), AC (Austin Carr), so you know we’ve got a competitive group in there. Very smart room, and as long as we continue to improve daily, usually that’s what makes the unit better.” - Jules

(Mitchell and DeAndrew White were excluded from the list, but they also didn’t participate in practice.)

They call him "AC" because he's so cooooool.

Had a good feeling about Foster just watching some OTA Wednesday pics.
Seemed bulked up, confident posture, on a mission.
It will be crazy watching who leaves before week 1 53. Some “locks“ parting ways a real possibility.

BTW - Hawkins gets #16, D White moves to #17 acc. to Reiss
Foster getting hyped on day 1 isn't a good sign for my long-term health.
