For some reason the NFL media folks are compelled to grade the drafts of every team the day after the draft wraps up, guess they have nothing better to do.. maybe the NFL can manufacture "Day After The Draft" hats with their teams average score on them..

FWIW guess they gotta do what they gotta do... so it looks like we got a passing grade, come Monday the negativity about the draft will commence with the local sports talk idiots who will say with certainty what an idiot BB and the Pats are because they drafted this duded, but did not draft that dude... then some talk radio host will do his best to want us to be angry about something..

SI Gives Pats a C+ FYI the NY Jets got a C-

2017 NFL draft grades: Final reports on every team

Chad Reuter gives Pats a B+ and the NYJ a B...

2017 NFL Draft: Quick-snap grades for all 32 teams

Pete Prisco gives the Pats a B and the Jets a C+

Prisco's NFL Draft Grades for all 32 teams: Five earn 'A's, two fall short with 'D's

IMO complete nonsense. Nobody can accurately and precisely evaluate this. Huge complicating factors are individual team needs, the ability of individual players to "make it" at the NFL level, and the ability for a team to "coach up" the rookies leading up to the season and beyond. Does anybody really care what these dweebs' opinions are? Just more click bait to ignore.

Gotta wonder what "grade" the mediots would give to THIS use of draft picks...

1st round (#32) - experienced, elite WR

2nd round (#64) - very good, experienced rotational DE

3rd round (#83) - DE/OLB, potential rookie contributor - DEREK RIVERS
3rd round (#85) - OT, potential 2nd-year starter - ANTONIO GARCIA

4th round (#137) - solid, experienced #2 move-TE
4th round (#131) - DE/3-TECH potential rotational/backup - DEATRICH WISE

5th round (#163) - solid, experienced RB
5th round (#183) - experienced #3 TE/proven special-teamer

6th round (during 2016) - Van Noy, experienced starting LB
6th round (during 2016) - experienced #3 TE, Michael Williams

7th round (#211) - potential backup OT - CONNOR McDERMOTT

Grading a team's "draft" exclusively based on which (still) untested college prospects they selected is totally effing meaningless. Yet another in a long list of reasons to ignore media opinions.

What a waste of time to grade drafts a day after they finish.

These draft grades are brought to you by "Draft Kings", remember the NFL does not condone gambling, but condones the revenue associated with it.. it is about the "integrity" of the game.... the NFL does not like gambling, but loves Las Vegas.

Not sure even Kony Ealy's mom would describe his NFL career to this point as 'very good.'

Statistically a very close comp to Sheard over the past two seasons, and I thought that Sheard was "very good" for the Pats.

Perhaps you have a higher standard for "very good" than I do.

The reason isn't a mystery. We click, we read, we protest. They get paid. Wash, rinse, repeat.

And they attract the fans of 31 other teams who desperately need to feel superior to the Patriots

Honestly if you grade this draft on the veterans the Pats picked up, it's a slam dunk "win now" A+

Belichick is going to find as many players among the undrafted as other GMs find among those they drafted so he's not even giving up "the future" by trading draft picks for proven veterans.

The reason most teams can't do what Belichick did is because they don't have the cap space and need to rely on cheap rookies (with the exception of top 10 picks who will cost just as much as a veteran anyways)

I'm always more intrigued by the UFAs than most of the draft picks anyways, so frankly, I'm enjoying this draft as much as any other where Belichick had tons of picks.

Once on the roster everyone is pretty much in the same boat anyways - all fighting for a spot on the final 53

The only "draft grade" that counts each year comes in Ws and Ls - and the Patriots have done better than anyone else.

USA Today had an interesting read of how Belichick approaches the draft most years - this year is a "win now" aberration but again - he's not sacrificing the future in doing so.

While his approach is a proven success, the Mediots continue to give him average grades year after year. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...at-the-nfl-draft-copy-the-patriots/100954836/

Now is a good time to unfurl the obligatory Borges:

" "On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sack last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon."

Every year it seems the Pats get upgraded.

Geez Mel, whatta we gotta do to get an A? The only regrade to an A we got is the year we "only" made it to the AFCCG, rather than the two years we won the SB. And what of the stats quoted here a few weeks ago that something like 60% of first round picks are busts? Does that mean 60% of your analysis is pure garbage? More like 100% if you ask me.

I find it very interesting that BB's unexpected move this year is to go with proven talent rather than unproven draft picks. Fraudger taking away draft picks showed BB that the draft is not all that. Excited for the season to start!

Ah, such an old classic. We should tweet this to him every day, three words at a time, different posters. Just to remind him of his wisdom.

Given these articles I can safely say we are seeing a trend forming. ;)

This. Also, I'm tired of seeing people say we traded a 2 for him. We dropped from the late 2nd to the early 3rd for him. I'm guessing that's maybe a 5th rounder in value.
Pats traded down from #64 to #72 from 270 points to 230 points or giving up 40 points, the equivalent of pick #132 a high 5th rounder............

When it's all said and done 3 years from now, I'm willing to wager there will be more udfa's on this team, from this draft, than there will be actual draft picks on half the other teams still playing in the nfl.
