Reports: Browns reached out last night about Garoppolo, were told no. Will make another offer today

Brady has a great shot at number 6. I will be looking to see how his timing and the zip on his ball look this season. The guy's a hard worker.

None of the reports I've heard/read have talked about what the Browns were offering last night or if they were just calling to see if Garoppolo was available..

The 2017 NFL Draft Day One Game Day Thread

Why do I have the feeling that the Browns have been lowballing the Pats regarding Garoppolo and that is why he hasn't been dealt?

Let's be honest. If Cleveland had actually offered #12, a 2nd and a 2nd next year, there is almost no way BB would have said no.. Not when he'd gain 3 major pieces and have control of them for a significant time.

My bet is that Cleveland has been offering a 2nd and 3rd at most.. And that is why the Pats have turned them down.. And that's why when they inquired, they were told no again..

The only other plausible explanation (imho) is that BB really hates this draft (like he did the 2007 draft) and just doesn't want to add a lot of players from it..

I wish all this trade talk was with the 49ers. I think JG's gonna be great and I don't want him in the AFC, esp Cleveland who by 2018 is going to be a threat with a good QB.

An ACL now would probably be the end.

Well that's why the protection has to hold up. You can't think he's gonna blow his knee again. He has a quick trigger.

Remember when lots of folks would have said the same about Bledsoe?

Probably not, not many would have said "Tommy is super talented,"...
No one thought the 2001 Pats were going to win the SB.
No Pats fan (at least that I remember) had any thought of Bledsoe every leading the Pats back to a SB (in 2001) let alone winning one.
Your comment is complete revisionist history.
BB's first year in NE he completely overhauled the team and they went like 5 -11 (in 2000).
BB is the greatest coach ever, but he got super lucky with Tom Brady. Just like Walsh got lucky with Montana (and then Young).
So to answer your question I don't remember when folks would have said the same about Bledsoe, but if you thought the 2001 Pats were going to win the SB with Bledsoe, then I guess you had a much better read on the team than many others.

I think he is going to be great next year. But when everyone starts pencilling in a date in SB52, alarm bells go off and I remember all that can go wrong.

We're not trading him unless it's more than a Godfather offer

Well their second rounder this season and a first in 2018 and a second rounder and their 2019 first rounder wouldn't do it for you?

I would still be willing to trade JAG for both first rounds picks and a second round pick next year as well as 52 this year.

2 first and 2 seconds really should be enough. I'd take that deal.

If they turn that down, he better be better than Aaron Rodgers.

Well staying injury free's the biggest priority. They only suffered one big injury and that was gronk but we had bennett. We will see. Hope the offseason conditioning works well again and we get lucky with non injuries.

The easy part is believing that BB sees JG as the successor to TB. The hard part, is how can they get their if Brady does indeed play 3 more years (if not more). I just don't see a path, outside the unforeseen. That is, unless Brady gets hurt, Brady takes true peanuts in pay, JG wants to sit on the bench and signs a team friendly extension, or Brady retires. Does anyone really believe that the Patriots will tag JG and pay Brady during 2018? How about for 2019 too? I just don't see that happening. So while BB might really believe in him, how does he keep him if Brady keeps playing?

Maybe they are willing to give up two first since they have houston's 2018 first rounder.

If BB thinks that JG is undoubtedly the successor, he would try to move heaven and earth to keep him - but I agree it is very hard.
