The 2017 Mock Draft Thread

Caserio said today they have 50-75 draftable guys on their board. Two things.

1. They probably have as many on Day 4.

2. Our boards could be closer then Id thought. Of course most of my guys are safeties. Oh wait..

If only we had a second round pick, you'd be spot on with the safety prediction.

In the aftermath of todays transactions.. (the somewhat naive Fanspeak board)

72: EDGE TARELL BASHAM
96: CB SIDNEY JONES
131: C PAT ELFLEIN
(163: DT JARRON JONES)
183: OLB JOE MATHIS
200: S DAVID JONES
239: LB HARVEY LANGI

then UDFA's like: Mack Hollins, Sam Tevi, Jonathan Ford, Steven Taylor, Bug Howard (Lombardi's binkie), Jamari Staples, Sam Rogers, Pharoah Brown, Nate Gerry, Joshua Holsey, Jack Tocho, Shaq Griffin, Onwualu, Reeves-Maybin, Josh Augusta. Quincy Adeboyejo, Tanner Gentry, Ghering Dieter, Jordan Morgan, Jason Croom, Dalton Crossan, Leon McQuay, Eric Wilson, Garrett Sickels, Ewan Schwan, Bryan Cox, Patrick Ricard, Bobby Puyol ..

(while keeping Butler and JG of course)

And then some season ticket & free time for TC..
__

BTW, Manx, here again (like @M Miller's) .. There were all Bowser, Willis and Basham available at #72 (also Anderson, DeM Walker, Hall..). Not that it means anything but stranger things will happen next week..

You might be right, they may not go first round but I'd still bet on them going top 50. We won't have long to find out.

With Matt Miller's big board on fanspeak:

72: EDGE TYUS BOWSER
96: C ETHAN POCIC
131: EDGE DEMARCUS WALKER
163: CB JOURDAN LEWIS
183: TE JEREMY SPRINKLE
200: LB DYLAN COLE
239: OT DAVID SHARPE

Not a comment on your mock and where you have them going but just reporting something I read from Matt Miller inspired by the fact that you have them both in your mock, but Matt Miller said he was told by a GM that he was "rounds too low" on Jeremy Sprinkle and David Sharpe. The inference being that the NFL like them far more than the draft punditry does.

So much for Switzer, Fred Ross, Perine, Conner, etc. in mocks. A rookie RB or WR literally can't make the team (Amendola restructure and Gillislee 2 year deal pending).

At this point I'm going to just do all defense & Chad Kelly late. :D

I know, right?

Seriously, not much happens for a couple weeks but the usual rumors from the usual suspects. Then I'm called away by work for 48 hours and all hell breaks loose and changes the entire draft landscape for the Pats. I swear, ya can't turn your back on BB even for one lousy minute.

Quick mock on Fanspeak with CBS board:

72: R3P8
S JOSH JONES
NC STATE

96: R3P32
C PAT ELFLEIN
OHIO STATE

131: R4P24
EDGE DAESHON HALL
TEXAS A&M

163: R5P19
EDGE TANOH KPASSAGNON
VILLANOVA

183: R5P39
TE BUCKY HODGES
VIRGINIA TECH

200: R6P16
OT STORM NORTON
TOLEDO

239: R7P21
LB JALEN REEVES-MAYBIN
TENNESSEE

There is probably no chance Jones falls to 72, but he would be a good eventual replacement for Chung. I personally think C is probably the only spot on the O-Line we could potentially upgrade with a rookie this year. Would have liked a CB somewhere, but couldn't find the right value at any pick.

with fanspeak board:

72: EDGE JORDAN WILLIS
96: OLB RYAN ANDERSON
131: G JERMAINE ELUEMUNOR
163: TE MICHAEL ROBERTS
183: LB CONNOR HARRIS
200: CB BRENDAN LANGLEY
239: OT AVIANTE COLLINS

This is a fantastic mock. Every pick makes perfect sense.

Yet another Fanspeak mock using the CBS board. This mock assumes a Butler trade* amd a Gillislee signing. Went with what I thought were 'most like;y' picks with the first 3 and whilst a number of prospects that I would have wanted weren't there following that, I'm still happy with what I got. Have to love this draft - it's hard to find a scenario that doesn't get you want you want.

72: R3P8
EDGE JORDAN WILLIS
KANSAS STATE

96: R3P32
CB SHAQUILL GRIFFIN
UCF

131: R4P24

S DELANO HILL
MICHIGAN

163: R5P19
CB CORN ELDER
MIAMI (FLA.)

183: R5P39
OT SAM TEVI
UTAH

200: R6P16
TE MICHAEL ROBERTS
TOLEDO

239: R7P21
LB SAMSON EBUKAM

* Obviously if there's a Butler trade I'd be in a position to make a high pick. Plenty of quality prospects went after 32: Melifonwu, Cunningham, Bowser, B Baker and so on.

As an aside, Basham went two picks before 72 and Ryan Anderson 2 picks after.

Recent Big Boards and Top 150 rankings and so on appear to be all over the place on a lot of prospects. I've seen Basham between #25 and #85, Anderson between #34 and #120. Similar with Delano Hill.

I think it's as much about the amount of talent available between about 25 and 100. Hard to pin down a definitive order. I picked CBS because, although I think they're fairly slow to adjust to preceived changes in prospect fortunes, they do tend to get there (ish) in time. I think their boards are more about predicting where a prospect goes rather than their own idiosyncratic rankings of a prospect.

Going by CBS alone, I'd be really happy if it played out like this:

#72 - Anderson
#96 - (one of) Walker, Hall, Hendrickson, Wise

After that, almost anything else would seem almost like icing on the cake. Even with the #163 gone in exchange for Gillislee, there would still be opportunities to double-dip at DE as well as pick up developmental prospects at CB, Safety, or OL ... or maybe even at TE, WR and DT ... especially going into Day-4.

Seven round mock from Chad Reuter.

Chad Reuter 2017 seven-round NFL mock draft: Round 7

Has us taking:

72. Jourdan Lewis
96. Harvey Langi
131. Samson Ebukam
163. James Conner
183. Delano Hill
200. Brad Seaton
239. Tanner Gentry

As I have Langi, Ebukam and Hill in the prediction thread, needless to say, I'd be very happy with this mock.

I also want to credit Reuter with clearly giving this mock some thought. He clearly pays attention to who we've met with (even Tanner Gentry) and also having Conner at 163, the pick we'd give up for Gillislee. Swap in a pass rusher instead of Lewis and this is a very possible mock.

My buddy invited me a mock draft where GMs call in & make picks. He had the giants & I had the pats. It was pretty interesting. Almost everything fell our way. Tomorrow is the 2nd half of round 5, 6, & 7. My picks:

72: Tarell Basham DE Ohio
96: Daeshon Hall DE Texas A&M
131: Samson Ebukam LB Eastern Washington
163: Tedric Thompson S Colorado

I wish :D

With Harmon coming back, Thompson is a little redundant now but I'd be thrilled with those first three picks. Great job.
