Time for annual nominations. I really hope Raymond Clayborn makes it this year. Other guys from the past are Julius Adams, one of our best pass rushers. We could use him now. Of the recent teams, I favor Willie McGinest, always made big plays and was the best team leader.

On the negative side, it bothers me to even consider Randy Moss. Yes, he had a couple good years, one great year, but he was a one trick pony and a selfish quitter. He shouldn't be allowed to carry the jock strap of Troy Brown or Julian Edelman, guys that give it all for the team. Moss never did that, he didn't even give it all for himself.

Moderator Edit:

Added a poll.

Note that the poll is not for who you think will be voted in, but is for who is most deserving.

Also keep in mind this is based solely on their time with the Pats and for the Patriots Hall of Fame, and has nothing to do with their career outside New England, in the broadcast booth, or the Pro Football HoF.

Since the next step in the process is to narrow it down to three candidates, I made it possible to vote for three players in this poll as well.

Randy Moss is one of the best 3 WRs to ever play. Can't keep him out.

I'd put Stanley Morgan in over both Clayborn and McGinest. Morgan deserves it.

edit: Stanley Morgan is already in the Pats Hall of Fame.

I want Randy in. That speech and ceremony will be worth the price of admission!

I agree with @aluminum seats - the fan voting was a nice idea to include the public in regards to who gets in to the Pats HoF when it first started, but the time has come to abandon the concept. For example, the length of time it took Houston Antwine to get in was ridiculous. Even then it was done only after he died, and as part of the once-every-five-years veteran committee.

First-time eligible candidates are Randy Moss, Richard Seymour and Ty Warren.

2016 first-time candidates were Matt Light and Kevin Faulk (who was elected).

Over recent years the committee usually narrows it down to two recently retired players plus one sacrificial lamb "old timer" (ie, pre-2000). Rodney Harrison and Mike Vrabel are two other BB/TB era players that have made it to the voting stage.

I would be very surprised if Moss and Seymour did not make it to the final round this year. The only question is who will be the third finalist.

The committee seems to really favor Bill Parcells (nominated in 2011, 2012 and 2014), but to me it would be a travesty if he was enshrined prior to so many others that are more deserving, such as:
  • Julius Adams
  • Raymond Clayborn
  • Chuck Fairbanks
  • Russ Francis
  • Leon Gray
  • Fred Marion
  • Mosi Tatupu

On one hand I will be upset if Parcells is nominated over any of the above. On the other hand he will have no shot, so let him suffer the ignominy of not being voted in for a fourth time.

The vote has become anti-climatic and meaningless. It was obvious Kevin Faulk would win last year (even though Clayborn was equally deserving), and it is obvious Randy Moss will win this year. It's time to find a new format that is not so heavily weighted in favor of recently retired players.

Moss wasn't here long enough and got zero rings.
Seymour was a MAJOR piece of 3 Champs.

Seymour deserves 1,000,000 times more than moss. Willie does too.

Do you think Seymour still mad about how his tenure here ended? It'd be interesting if he got nominated.

He's been back several times and seems to have gotten over things.

Not so sure about Moss. I mean, he is one of the best to ever play, but did he play long enough here to justify it? Maybe, but not ahead of a bunch of others.

Great list. As I said repeatedly last year, I loved Kevin Faulk but he was still a role player up against these every down players. Oh well, there is lot about the world I don't understand. Parcells, Moss, Dillon, are former Patriots that I would never consider above these guys. Three years or less, and left under darkening clouds.

I love Moss, but a little over three total years here and then forced his way out after Brady said he could no longer function with him.

Maybe RM is still a Patriots HoF selection; I just think others are more worthy.

As @AzorianPats said, Rodney Harrison deserves to be in.

Can we just induct Moss's 2007 season?

My picks in order:
Definates:
Richard Seymour
Rodney Harrison
Raymond Clayborn
Willie McGinest

Close but not quite:
Randy Moss (have mixed emotions due to just 3 years so I say no)
Parcells (his exit and short duration is not enough)
Julius Adams - good but not great player

edit: Willie McGinest is already in Pats Hall of Fame

scores scored 50 plus td's in that period. I understand the reservations but that is some return

How old are you. Adams was dominant in his time on a losing team.

Nothing against Faulk, but he should have never been in before Harrison, Vrabel or Seymour.

I still don't understand that. Maybe it was because this was the only team he ever played for, and he's still around the area, but your comparing a role player that made some big plays vs All pro/pro bowl players.

I think. Mcginest has to be above Rodney. He had3 rings and was a career patriot. Rodney spent the tail end of his career here and missed a bunch of time with injuries.
