OT: Romo retiring. Going into broadcasting.

Very smart move for his future. Still involved in football but with no threat of injury. Meanwhile....

I don't think the Pats are going to trade Garoppolo this year, but, if they did and if he is as good as most of us seem to think the Pats think he is, why would they trade him to a Conference rival who is a QB away from being a genuine threat?

Wonder if the Texans will make a run at trying to get Garoppolo now.
It would have to be some run! Why would they trade him (assuming the Pats really think he's as good as most of us think they think he is), to a Conference rival who is a QB away from being a genuine threat? Ditto for Denver.

Even if he doesn't say a word on the telecast he is already better than Simms

But there's your problem. A mute Simms is better than a talking Simms, yet he talks. Romo is going to talk on the air. Maybe he'll be better. Given the trend in broadcasting, I wouldn't be confident of that. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

Both are hothouse petunia dome qbs who benefited by playing on fast track 72 degree fields. I'm not impressed by the Arena FB QBs as much as I am by the Bradys,Rodgers/Roethlisbergers, etc.

.

He does have a point.

Career QB Rating, Dome
Rodgers - 111.1
Brady - 108.9
Roethlisberger - 106.8
Brees - 102.5

Career QB Rating, Outdoors
Rodgers - 102.6
Brady - 96.6
Roethlisberger - 93.3
Brees - 90.3

To summarize, these QBs have a QB rating of 10-12 points higher playing in a dome. That's a huge difference...roughly the difference between Joe Flacco and Peyton Manning. You could use the Home/Away difference as an explanation, but that's still a pretty big gap.

Jerry Jones trapped him. That's how he repayed him. Shameful!

Gotta strongly disagree with that.

Carr isn't Brady, but he played on a way higher level last year than Delhomme ever did. Delhomme at his best played some above average QB for a few years.

Carr has that clutch gene that most QB's don't have. He was the sole reason the Raiders won so many games last year. Delhomme never had that level of impact.

I'd say Khalil Mack had a lot to say about the success of the Raiders last year. Carr is playing above average at times right now. May he get better, possibly. Or he could plateau or regress. To say he is anything more than above average at times right now is incorrect.

The true test is when the cap casualties start. Can he survive without top of the draft receivers? I suspect we will see much regression when the offense takes some hits.

The Texans just keep shooting themselves in the foot. Traded away a 2nd rounder and a QB to clear up cap space for Romo and then he retires. Lol...this team sucks

The Titans have a good team but Mariota is coming back from an injury and they don't have any Playoff experience. (Same with the Raiders, but they have the better overall team).
The Chiefs are just so unspectacular. With Game manager Alex Smith at the helm they are not getting out of the Wild Card Round.
The Steelers or the Raiders are probably the most likely to get to the AFCCG with us. And we own both.
I wouldn't say the Pats own the Raiders. Especially since we haven't had to play them since the got a top shelf QB.

CBS has made it official. They're going to be pairing Romo with Nance.

I really want this to be a disaster, for giggle factor purposes.

Tony Romo is not a top-tier QB that gets you to the Playoffs. In 14 years as a starter he was in the Playoffs 4 times with a 2-4 record and a botched hold on a GW-field goal to lose his team a playoff game. And while i agree that he is glass, he wouldn't have done anything for those teams to threaten us.
The botched snap game WAS his first game in the playoffs ever. He's been pretty good the last couple of times. His last playoff game he had a 143 rating.

at least the story is ending

Uh oh! You can't call Jake Delhomme 2.0 top shelf!!

Glad Romo's retiring but I'll be happier when I hear that crazy socialist Bernie has retired. goback2Venezuela you freak.

If I'm running things for the Texans, I'd give up the picks for Garoppolo, and
Ditching the QB was addition by subtraction.

I agree somewhat, but the Texans blew their load on a dude they never even met; even BOB agreed that was probably something the wish they had back.

I'm not sure Romo would have faired much better behind that swiss cheese o-line theybhave (whole right side will be new). Cutler same thing. I believe this is the only team in the league that hasn't signed a free agent and lost key players....this team is worse off than it was last year

If I'm them, I'd give kaepernick a shot. At least he has the ability to make some yards when the line breaks down.

That is assuming Belichick actually think Garoppolo is half as good as people think he is on this board. Maybe he might feel it is like trading Bledsoe away again where everyone else thinks he is far better than Belichick does.

Have you never heard anything, at all, about BOB? Either he, or Kaepernick, would probably be dead by week 3.
