The 2017 Mock Draft Thread

Harvey Langi at 131? That spells F.A.I.L.

A draft from SI. Some odd rankings. I don't see Conley and Humphrey falling into the 40s, but who knows what might really happen? Interesting ideas.

NFL Mock Draft: Three-round forecast for all 32 teams

I can see taking Beckwith at #96, but leaving guys like Kareem Hunt and Ryan Anderson on the board to take a DT at #72? While it's certainly true that one can never really predict what BB will do in the draft, that projection has a "throwing darts at a dart board" feel to it.

I hate that mock for us. I wouldn't take either of those guys at those spots. We need to come out of day 2 with the best OT & DE available.

Yeah, I never pay too much attention to the actual player or position they give the Patriots in these mocks -- I'm more curious to see where they slot in players based on their perceived value. This mock had a lot of names in different orders from what I've seen, so that's why I figured I'd share.

The "best DE" for the Pats may be a guy who other teams have ranked lower, so he may still be on the board later. IIRC, either Mayock or Kiper were talking up Geneo Grissom during the draft and then kinda damning Flowers with faint praise.

I have to think that the Pats are trying to work out an extension with Solder. But, if they don't have something concrete worked out by the start of the draft, they probably do need to take an OT at #72 or #96. In terms of negotiation-fu, Scar personally working out Davenport the other day was a nice touch.

The de that I think would be the bat fit for us is hall of Texas a&m. He can beat guys one on one and he can set the edge in the running game.

He has decent size but needs to get much stronger.

Perfect fit for us.

Three-Round Mock Draft | Draft Analyst

They have us taking Hall and Darboh, both of whom I really like. That's not the point of this post, though; check out how high Basham goes, and how low Willis goes. Bowser, a fan favorite, isn't even selected in the first three rounds. Some of their corners are in odd places, too. I can't imagine Seattle takin Awuzie insteadof King, for example. I guess we'll see in a few weeks, but the order of players selected is pretty interesting.

Three RBs gone in the top 15 picks, and then only five total in the first three rounds would be a significant statistical outlier among recent drafts.

The Titans passing on high-end CBs to take Howard at #5 seems odd, given that they also have the #18 and their secondary still appears to need some work. I mean, I understand the reasoning that Mariota needs more good targets, but that still seems like a huge reach (IMHO), given the depth of this class.

I also haven't seen Hall ranked higher than the 4th round very often. Not saying that BB wouldn't take him early if Hall is "the guy", but still ...

Weird rankings for sure. But if we came out of the draft with that haul, I'd be super happy.

? for board. PFF has a 3 round mock out today. J.Adams and S. Thomas are on the board at 12. If we trade Jimmy G, who ya got? I'd go with S. Thomas because it's a harder position to fill IMO. Love Adams though. Could get a great cb at 33 if we got that pick too.

That's tough. By all accounts, Adams is the perfect safety. Thomas has the potential to be an all time great if he pans out as expected, however. I honestly don't think he'll be available at 12, but if he were, then he'd be my pick (but it would be a narrow margin).

Adams, but barely amd moreso for his intangibles and leadership. Also think Thomas replicates some of what Trey Flowers gives us. It's a close one though.

Fanciful on the trades, but intriguing mix of big names falling and unexpected guys going high. Fascinating draft year. I can't quite remember so much volatility.

With three weeks to go, I do kit see bb trading away jimmy or butler.

#72 hall de Texas a&m
#96 Anderson de/olb Alabama
#131 Sutton CB ten
#163 Beckwith lb lsu
#183 McDermott ot ucla
#200 topou dt Colorado
