Just Say No to Revis - Patriots Should Pass

Regardless of how many on this forum may feel, Revis is a perfect fit for what we do, familiar with the scheme & he can still cover. He's just NOT a #1 corner anymore, but that's fine; that's what Gilmore is being paid $14million to be. I welcome Revis back with open arms. Yes, he had 1 bad season & was admittedly overweight. However, if he's back in shape, willing to play here & the Jets are paying his 2017 salary...WELCOME BACK BUDDY!:D

Also, with McCourty, Harmon & Chung back at safety, he'll be fine.

I don't understand why people are so against Revis coming back. If he can play and can make the roster, then I am all for it.

If the Pats pay Revis does it count against what the Jets are paying him or add onto it?

Cause for $4m out of pocket... He's lost a step but I also think we are the one team that could eek 2-3 years of starter-level play from the guy.
The contract is the Jets owe him $6M guaranteed for 2017 with offset language that any money he earns from another team deducts from the $6M. As such, unless he can find some team to give him *more* than $6M this year, his salary will be $6M.

So, for example, if Revis came to NE (again) it wouldn't matter to him if the Patriots paid him $1 million, $2 million or $5 million. His salary for the year will still be $6 million with the Jets making up the difference.

That's why the general consensus is that he will be willing to accept veteran minimum. He loses nothing playing for the minimum.

Not sure I believe it but it would get the tongues of the talking heads wagging.

I'm probably more in favor of this than most posters here (I think Revis can still be a savvy vet if he accepts a different role) but to be fair this is just conjecture from some random personnel man to the most wrong NFL insider since Mort.

Which is why I added my comment. I have as little faith in LaConfirma as you. I don't really have an opinion on Revis joining the Pats (in BB we trust) but I just think it will be fun to see the media meltdown if it happens. Personally, in this draft class, I'd much rather BB drafted a CB.

I think Revis needs to be in shape and in the right system but if so he can still succeed. I've compartmentalized when it comes to his media comments and I think the guy's a grade A fucklehead but if he can help us win whatever.

they are starting to say this looks like a real possibilty

They should pass on Revision so he'll be on another defense and they can keep passing on Revis

Kraft just being nice or trolling the media?

Either way, it's not up to him to decide pro or con. He can say all he wants but BB is what makes or breaks it. All he does is put his John Hancock on the checks (not ALL but you know).

Move Devin McCourty to corner back, add revis as depth at safety, if he wins the starting roll at FS, it's a win for me.

Yeah let's move our best d back to a position he sucks at.

I don't know what you are talking about, Devin McCourty put up the same stats as revis when revis when he was a shut down corner. Devin was moved to safety when the pats safety position was full of injury. Yeah Devin is great as a safety, but he is a corner. Devin was a great corner turned safety, he can go back to corner and revis can in the same light be a great free safety.

Is this a sarcastic thread that's going over my head? Devin had one great year as a zone corner 6 years ago. He has shown to be a disaster as a full time press/man corner. His best traits fit the safety position like a glove. Your suggestion would weaken two positions.
