The idiots are now saying he's a system CB lol. If it wasn't for butler our secondary would be in shambles. Pay respect to the guy here and what he did for us. Geez

You calling others here idiots is pure comedy.

His being called a system CB dosent mean he diddnt player really well for us. Of course without him it would be a mess back there. That is not the point.

It seem's like bill just wants to make his life a little easier with a game changer on offense.
Been wondering about this. Was the Cooks addition because BB wanted to give Tom a little help and take some pressure off him at this age where some sort of decline should be imminent? Or was it because of how improved TB's deep ball was last season and how much damage he could do with a B Cooks? Just semantics as the result is basically the same, but I wonder..

I hate to say this but I think Butler is going to disappoint in NO, and it really won't be his fault. I don't think they have the pieces in place for a top corner to make a difference, so when he doesn't turn their fortunes around he will take heat but it really won't be his fault.

Umm, so are the Saints going to offer sheet and we get the #11 or was this a wink-wink deal, and we just get #32 back for Butler?

I think it was because Belichick got an extended first hand look at him last summer, realized how incredibly talented he is, and saw the chance to bring him in.

So, if true:
5 yrs of #32 > 1 year of Butler?
Also: JAG gets the tag?

Which is is pimp? You have posted both of these on here.

So now the guy's overrated? He gives up plays but he's a solid corner.

People overrate him [Butler] on this board.

Nice try. I said he wasn't top 10 but outside of it. He's a solid corner.

No you didn't. All you said was that he was overrated. No one mentioned anything about him being a top 10 CB in that thread, so that's not what you were responding to.

You're just pretending to be upset about it now because it's your schtick to pretend that the 5 time SB champs are a perennial disappointment.

I think he can play well for them if breaux gets healthy. They still have the 11th pick to add more defense. That nfc south will be competitive. I am rooting for the guy

FourierSeries is a stupid gimmick poster stop giving him attention.

Another geek who is still incredibly salty about the Patriots' SBLI victory. Tell us more about how your Denver Broncos were a threat to NE in 2016.

Highly doubtful that they are willing to give up the 11th overall pick (where JJ Watt was selected) for Malcolm Butler.

Fingers crossed we can trade him and recoup the 32nd, which I think may have been the plan all along. Straight up player for player trade, as long as they were able to work out the longer term deal, first.

You're an idiot who doesn't appreciate what butler did for us. He won us the superbowl you clown.

Wow. I am THRILLED they got their #32 back. I thought that pick was gone. Butler (expensive) for Cooks (much cheaper for one year, also cheaper for the option year, and a better overall player when looked at from market value) for basically just a swap of third and fourth round pick.

The Patriots ripped off the Saints. Due to the financials and contract considerations for Butler and Cooks alone, the Patriots should have been paying a lot more draft pick compensation. I have no idea how the Saints would let BB get this type of deal. I guess it comes down to one team being desperate to make the move and the other not.

Yet you called him overrated and weren't big on him until it became apparent he was no longer going to be a Patriot.

The guy played well in a system where many players have their best years. He is replaceable. In fact, he has already been replaced by a better CB.

And we already replaced Butler with Gilmore. We basically got two cheap years of Cooks and gave Gilmore the long term deal instead of Butler.

We have lost Ryan but that was an independent event.

Overrated in that he will give up plays. Not a true shutdown but good enough. I won't argue with a little baby who thinks everything turns to gold. Every move.
