All quiet on Hightower front or Dont'a-do-it FA tour

Yet didn't he say a few days ago that the other teams like the Jets were "convinced" that he'd come back to New England?

This guys been all over the place.
Both those statements can be true.

Means nothing imo. If HT departs they have plans and players in mind and will execute when the time comes.

That's not how it works usually. Instead of risking missing out on their plan B they usually set a hard deadline and then just move on. See Welker/Amendola or Butler/Gilmore.

The fact they haven't with HT is either because they are pretty confident that he will be back or because they don't plan to sign anyone to replace him specifically but will as usual replace his role by committee. Both are equally likely..

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Dont'a Hightower leaves Steelers facility without a contract

Where do the Steelers turn now?

Well, many of their front office personnel trickled out of the building Tuesday when Hightower was still on his visit to catch a place to Madison, Wis., where they’ll attend Wisconsin’s pro day Wednesday. The Steelers will take a look at a number of players, but their attention will be focused on outside linebacker T.J. Watt, the younger brother of Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt and one of the top outside linebackers in this year’s draft.

Jets or Patriots. Article that indicated roughly $3m more from Jets..

No indication if that is per yr or total contract.

Unlikely BillB will match that.

Not convinced he's taking that.

Sucks the NFLPA is a bunch of pushovers and didn't bargain for higher playoff pay. Would help us make up ground on the Jets.

Can't lose Hightower over 2 million bucks.

There's an opening for a management position at a Wendy's in South Carolina. Hightower just boarded a plane to hear their pitch. He saw the advertisement for wages of $12.

Time for Belichick to make a decision. Come to an agreement or step away.

Money talks and HT is dragging this out for one reason and one reason only, money.

The Jets are so pathetic. What reason would they have to overpay for hightower other than prying him away from the pats? They will be a dumpster fire next season
