All quiet on Hightower front or Dont'a-do-it FA tour

The Jets have some cap room. More importantly, they have David Harris on a non-guaranteed contract for $6.5M this year, which is also the last year. They could cut and replace him with Hightower and it wouldn't cost them much more.

It wouldn't make sense for either side, but unfortunately, the Jets are specialists in doing things that don't make sense.

IF he signs with the Jets I want to see none of the White Knights on this forum disliking or disagreeing with anyone who says anything negative. He will deserve any such barbs being tossed his way. Near any other team would be palatable, but this would be the most d*ckish move he could have done. Fact that he is even visiting is the dumbest thing he could do. Embrassing quite honestly.

Your posts are embarrassing, Hightower is a really good player who is simply checking his options out. The animosity towards him is idiotic.

I understand that players have a short window regarding their careers, but I've always felt that if offers were in a similar ballpark, the true winners would choose a team with a winning tradition and culture. I understand that there can be mitigating circumstances like geography and hometowns, but I just wouldn't be able to comprehend it if Hightower does indeed sign with the NYJ unless they totally blow the Patriots offer out of the water. I'd think losing in NY would be a miserable experience after winning two Superbowls.

Miserable is a bit much.

If he leaves it will suck but life goes on.

I would have understood and respected going to TN to be back home in the good weather. They're a team that's just a couple pieces away from being really competitive so he can get paid and win at home.

But the Jets, in the cold weather just as far from home winning 5 games a year. That's pathetic.

Seriously and it makes me think how low the Titans offer was if they even offered him a deal. Because report was they wanted no part of even $10m per.

Which it gets me thinking if this is last ditch effort by his agent to get the Pats to up their offer. I mean it's the jests....

The guy has made two game turning, nay game winning plays in our last two superbowl wins, and has been absolutely spectacular since he was drafted.

If he feels that he's achieved what he can with us (two SB's in his first 5 years in the league. Most won't even win one in their entire career) and wants to really earn every last penny he can, then good luck to him. Players careers don't last all that long and if he can support his immediate family, and set up his grandchildren and maybe even their children for life, then fair play to him.

He's already earned my undying respect.

Fcuk that. He should go where he gets the best deal. He doesn't owe anything to anyone other than himself. And he especially doesn't owe anything to the owners or to whiny fans who would go screaming to their mommies after one day of what a pro player goes through.

Boy I'm sure glad Revis thought about Jets fans first when he decided not to sign with us in 2014. I'm also glad Gilmore couldn't stomach the thought of playing for a division rival last week.

Zac Brown and on a 1 year prove it deal DeAndre Levy
Could be wrong, but I don't see Brown taking a one year prove it deal. Everyone is waiting for HT to set the market. Brown will go shortly after, probably to miami

Jason LaCanfora just posted this on Twitter:

With Dont'a Hightower there's a very strong perception among other teams he's going back to Pats for $10M/yr. The ties to NE run deep...

Hope it's true.

10M/yr for HT sounds about right. He's not worth more than that, he's not Keuchly.

I think the one year deal was for Levy who was injured.
