Yeah, I still think Butler is headed to NO. I can't imagine the Saints got fleeced that bad. Wasn't it reported that they turned down like the #14 pick for Cooks. There has to be more to it.
they got back a 4th, wasn't just a 1st and 3rdThe Patriots traded a first and a third round pick for Cooks, thats too much, Im sure they have a gentleman's agreement in place, and since it's between NE and NO, they must be using burner phones to settle the details.
Butler is gone, book it.
For all it's worth.. Curran and Perry released an extra episode of the Quick Slants podcast a few hours ago. I'd recommend it to anyone anyway but among other things Curran said is that he heard additional whispers that Butler's agent doesn't really know what he is doing.
Love Malcolm but he's a tier below TyNew Orleans offers a cap friendly, but market fair contract to Malcolm Butler. Patriots do not match it, even if they could, because of a prior wink wink arrangement with New Orleans. Butler signs with New Orleans and Patriots get their first round pick back.
Butler has not signed the tender yet. (Nor he should, until he gauges the market.) I feel that there might be quite a bit of haggling going on between NO and MB's agent. Let things cool a bit before making the offer?
This scenario is pure speculation on my part. I got the chills when I read that Butler was not a part of the Cooks trade. I love MB. He is Ty Lawesque. I would love it if some poster can point out that this scenario is not feasible.
Makes no sense. Patriots would get saints original pick not the 32.New Orleans offers a cap friendly, but market fair contract to Malcolm Butler.
