Texans Trade Osweiler To Browns

But if Cleveland restructures this year, pays him a bonus, then trades him for a draft pick, everything should be legal.

Might still end up in an investigation given how many beat reporters said that they had sources confirming it was all about the pick (which is illegal).

Who knows..

Schefter is so adamant he's not getting traded it makes me wonder, he's pretty tight with the Patriots front office/ownership.

According to Lombardi it is as brilliant as it is illegal and might lead to some issues with the league office down the road.

They blew it by admitting this.

I still find that hard to believe unless brady's playing his final year coming up.

Brady has said numerous times to anyone who will listen that he wants to play longer than that.

If the browns offer two first round picks than i don't know how you turn that down. If they keep him that means he will be our QB after next year. Idk how bill doesn't look to trade him for the right package

Because you are underrating the value of a backup that can still give us a reasonable shot at a championship if Brady goes down. Or sub for Brady if he is out with a minor injury for a bit without us losing any chance to grab HFA.

Look at how the Raider's season fell apart in one moment.

Bill continuing to put pressure on Cleveland via Schefter lol. "I told you guys, I am NOT TRADING HIM.... unless you can give me all I've asked for..."

They are now my 3rd favorite team.

I have to agree. Their shenanigans are quite fun and interesting... and pissing off those asshats is icing on the cake. Plus I hate the Steelers and Ratbirds, so... Go Browns!

I think that would make it legal but barely so. Like hooking up with a girl on her 18th birthday. You didn't technically break the law, but her parents are still gonna be pretty pissed at you.

Yeah, but....did Vereen report in as ineligible?

Brown's actions will only be illegal if they trade those pick to us for Jimmy.

We'll end up being accomplices in heir Gooddels eyes'

As a draftnik, so jealous. As a fan, less so :)

Holy ****... they can rebuild half their roster with those picks and trade into whatever spot they damn well please in the draft to get their guys

Really interested to see what becomes of that franchise over the next couple years

For JAG...

the Browns give us #12, #33, a 3rd rounder next year, and Brock Osweiler as our backup/#3 QB, with the Browns eating 12M of his 16M dollar salary!

Not that I want Brock, but that would be somewhat hilarious, and we likely would want to carry a 3rd QB as a vet backup, at at SOME FILENE'S BASEMENT-LIKE PRICE, Brock would be at least somewhat palatable.

BREAKING: Brock Osweiler retires

CLEVELAND – New Cleveland Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler has announced his retirement, ending his career at age 26 and with more than $50 million remaining on his contract.

“After careful thought and consideration in the several moments after I was informed I was traded to the Browns, I have decided I will move on with the rest of my life,” Osweiler posted in a series of tweets. “We only have so much time on this planet, and I don’t want to spend any of the years I have on the Cleveland Browns, no matter how much I am being paid. Money is not everything. Thank you to the Browns for wanting me when no one else did, but no.”

The Browns acquired Osweiler on Thursday afternoon from the Texans along with a 2nd Round pick in 2018 by simply agreeing to pay his remaining salary after a season in which he struggled mightily on the field and was benched. But now Cleveland will not have to pay any of it due to Osweiler suddenly ending his career.

“I hoped for big things for Brock here in Cleveland,” said head coach Hue Jackson. “But I understand his decision. He retires as one of the greatest Cleveland Browns quarterbacks of all-time.”

Yeah for anyone thinking this is funny or typical Cleveland they need to realise that Osweiler probably won't ever play for them. In fact this was a stroke of genius almost by Browns back room. They just bought another second rounder. They now have a bucket load of draft picks and a good head coach. Honestly this is the Browns hierarchy maturing in front of the world rather than 'same old Cleveland again'

They blew it by admitting this.

If the Patriots did this, punishment would be loss of 2 first round picks, 8 game suspension for Belichick, and team fined $5 Million.

But it's the Browns, so....
