OT: I am amazed at how many NFL fans think the NFL is rigged

Most (all?) of the morons arguing that SB51 was rigged are saying that the Falcons were in on it..

There are really no bad calls that they can point to which helped out New England. Their primary "evidence" is the bad play calling.
That sounds both hilarious and ridiculous at the same time.

I saw a good amount of Steeler fans pointing to the DPI call at the end against Bennett, in the suggestion that it was fixed. Apparently, they believe that a 13 yard penalty which occurred on 1st down to take the ball from the 15 to the 2 is a make or break situation. I'm guessing that they missed the fourth quarter.

Kyrie! What's going on there? Is he taking this stance due to religious beliefs, (Bible said it's flat, right?) or has he just plain lost his mind?
No, it doesn't say that. From my experience nearly 100% of people who say the earth is flat are f****** with people.

The entire flat earth society is IMO pretty obviously tongue in cheek.

Does Irving's demeanor suggest that he's joking around? I honestly haven't seen anything about it outside of this forum.

The argument made by some religious nuts is that they interpret the Bible to state that the earth is flat. Am I making that up, or has this been an ongoing thing for many years with those who interpret it as such?

Yes I think he's making a point about how silly irrelevant things affect who likes him (something he's commented on). I think you're confusing certain sects that believe the earth is 6,000 or so years old with flat earth. As far as I can tell there is no real flat earth movement related to the Bible.

Well, people here seemed convinced that last year was rigged for manning to win the sb.

Thanks, Bob. You're my uncle.

Let's see: suspend best quarterback, take away draft picks, change rules to suit certain teams, do not punish other teams for the same offense, have such lousy refereeing that viewers have come to expect that fighting bad decisions is part of the game... Yeah I would say the NFL is rigged.

After watching the Texans get jobbed in Mexico against the Raiders I'm starting to wonder if it is rigged.

everytime there's a review vegas is on the phone

I think if the NFL was ever involved with fixing games.. I think it would kill the sport. I would stop watching. And I LOVE me some NFL.

It's amazing to me that nobody has mentioned Major League Baseball and the steroid scandal. The leagues didn't rig the results so that one team would win, but looked the other way, despite mounting evidence of steroid use, at the destruction of historic records, because the home rum frenzy meant a bigger gate. So much for "integrity of the game."

If the NFL was rigged, sure as hell it wouldn't have been for the Pat's benefit. The machinery of the league hates the Pats.

If the NFL was rigged, they would have suspended our best player for four games for some concocted reason, stripped us of draft picks and then... oh, wait.

Not surprised at all. I would conservatively estimate that 50% of the U.S. population is mentally challenged.

Normally I'd take offense, but you may be right.

Unlike many foreign foes, our internal idiots may bring us down.

I'm surprised that even more Patriots fans do not worry that a deal was done to get back Tom's reputation and in return a defamation suit would be dropped!

Seems as thought folks are giving the NFL too much credit, not sure they have the intelligence or foresight to rig much of anything.

They did succeed in NOLA when they pretty much put a huge crimp in the Saints who are still recovering..

In NE they met their match as they ran into the Patriots intelligence. I always believed that the whole deflategate thing was about "getting" BB and when they finally figured out that he had nothing to do with it, rather than having red buttholes they went after the next best thing #12 and the team by taking away picks.

Consider the recent no response to the Seahawks failure to report injuries to Sherman.. by only giving a warning they have set a new standard to manipulate the spirit of the injury reports..

The 100K fine for the Jets blatant tampering case on Revis when the precedent was a swap of draft picks tells you everything you need to know. The league pick sides.

What about the Game in Denver in 2015?

This league has lost all credibility.

You realize many people think the world is flat, right? (BTW, with cell phones and air travel one can easily prove longitude by asking "Where is the sun there?" Lattitude needs a sextant. :) )

Obviously Patriots fans and not going to be complaining much about the fuzzy calls made by refs in the NFL. They win 90+% of their games. I'm good with that!
There are some teams that can never catch a break when playing a better team. The refs almost always seem to find an obscure holding penalty on the line to offset a huge gain. Now we all know almost every lineman holds about every play.
There are to many glamour teams and way to much money in the NFL to just allow games to be played.
Why did the ref pick up the flag against the Lions in a playoff game against Blandino's Cowboys a couple of years agao?

Chris Gasper in today's Globe concluded his piece on the NFL's obvious double standard with this:"...(Pete) Carroll and company walk away scot-free. That just reinforces the belief that the Patriots represent the bull's-eye when it comes to the dartboard discipline meted out by the NFL."
