maturity, accountability and humility

All good signs, lets hope he leaves that disasterous rookie season in the rear view mirror and reminds us all why the Patriots used a 2nd round pick on him

If he can unscrew his head from his rear-end this off season, great, but don't tell me you're not going to be worried the first time he's out their fielding a punt (or covering one, for that matter).

I'm a big fan of Cyrus Jones, and was very happy when he was drafted. As an Alabama fan, I knew what he was capable of bringing to this team. As a Patriots fan, I was not at all happy with his rookie year performance. BUT, having said that, I still have a lot of faith in him and that message of his reaffirms that faith, at least to my mind.

I suspect that his problems this year were based not so much on return skills, but his own expectations of himself, coupled with the massive pressure that playing for a team like New England brings. The NFL is much faster than college ball, and being around some really BIG names playing on this team can certainly overawe the new kid on the block. Add to that Coach Belichick and his staff constantly seeing everything, and it's a big deal indeed. Then there's the pressure of living up to the contract that the team gave him.

So, and again this is only my personal opinion on him, if he can find a way to address those issues of self-doubt, or over-thinking things, I suspect he'll have a breakout season in 2017.

He needs to listen to #11: Be Water.

If he didn't have a great attitude and work ethic he'd already be gone.
Hope he turns it around team is going to need him next year.

Wasn't it Chung that took the heat like an adult when he messed up on STs early in his career ? Hoping Cy trends in the same direction. No question though : I was not sad to see him inactive for the three last (crucial) games.

I had this thought that if Harmon leaves, the best person presently on the roster to take his place and be McCourty's backup is C. Jones - in other words follow in McC's footsteps. Anyone else have that thought?

Talented kid, hopefully this indicates he's going to get it.

I have faith in this kid. Remember that gronk also had a horror show in Cleveland in his rookie season. He has good mentors in Butler and edelman.

Right now I don't even care about the return aspect of his game if he can get himself into the Defensive rotation as a fill in for Logan Ryan I can live with that.

Gee lets hope not why was Jordan Richards Drafted again?? I never liked that Richards pick *shaking my head*.

Thatd be huge if he gets it straightened out. Assuming ryan leaves we have a big need at cb3 and itd always help to finaly get je /da off returns to reduce the wear and tear.

. The Pats have never been a team that looks for perfect character or perfect skills...just 100% effort. Good luck to him!Whether he wrote that or his agent wrote that doesn't matter. All that matters is that he seems to be ready to try to grow. The rest is up to him and BB's coaching staff

I've not given up on Cyrus Jones as a corner, they need to leave him off of returns and get his confidence back and try and develop him as a corner first.

The special teams gaffs pretty much killed all his confidence.

Absolutely agree with this.

I think giving up on him as a corner is silly this early but on top of that what makes you think he would be a good safety? Does he profile as someone who could be a good FS?
