If the Pats trade Garappolo for Cleveland's #12 overall, who do you pick ?

It all depends on free agency's comings and goings but this is my list in order:
Derek Barnett
Jabrill Peppers
Zach Cunningham
Marlon Humphrey
Sidney Jones
Dalvin Cook
Mike Williams

David Njoku. In terms of pure upside, only Myles Garrett and Malik Hooker might be better. But I'd be thrilled with any of Foster, S. Thomas, Lattimore, either safety or Taco.

If they trade back, would be a big fan of drafting Garrett Bolles. He's 25 but he's in that Lane johnson level of athleticism area.

If hooker was available at 12 that would be the steal of the draft. I think it's unlikely though. Would love to see it. I think he's going to blow up the combine and be a top 5 pick. Wait he had surgery though, do you know if he's doing drills

I auspect he won't be doing any drills at the combine. I'm not even sure he'll be doing a pro day. I believe it's two surgeries - hernia and torn labrum.

Trading a future franchise QB for one player (that is not a QB) is bad business.

BB should try to get a 4th also on the trade and trade down the 1st round pick acquired via this trade.
Totally agree with this. BB's history and MO is not putting all his eggs in one basket. I saw someone put out both of Cleveland's 2's this year (33 & 51) and a conditional 2 next year with it guaranteed to at be least a 3.

Me thinks some here vastly over rate what we can get in return. Although JG is definitely a hot commodity, the reality of a team coughing up one of the first 3 picks straight up seems a stretch to me and would probably only happen if BB and Nick had a deal in place to immediately move it for multiple picks and swaps.

None of the players discussed will have as much impact as having a fully trained QB available to rescue a season in the event of a Brady mishap or sudden decline. This draft harbors no legitimate replacement QB to draft and train, for the presumed Brady 3-4 year remaining tenure.

Which I believe is just wistful whistling by the graveyard. It is unlikely any QB will match the GOAT, but his best days have come and are now gone. But you can win a Super Bowl with a good, and potentially great QB, like Polo has already proven himself to be. Sorry I am not impressed with Biscuits slow release.

EXACTLY. The way the Pats do it is draft a Defensive stud in first round, and get recievers (hate to say it like Mike Floyd), who was a first round number 13 pick, for nothing.

And add in at least a couple of years of seasoning and errors on somebody else's team history.

Also a lot depends on Davis' showing at the combine, especially in the all important 3 cone drill. Need the quickness (not necessarily straight line speed) in this offense. Davis is not only a freakish talent, he is a player very highly thought of by his coaches (I believe he's a captain), they say nobody works as hard as him. And has also overcome a lot in his youth.

A look at his talent.

wow.

Trade down for extra pick

Then

Trade away for first round pick next year and extra pick

Gotta get back on that cycle.
this also helps stagger your future team's UFA years...

I strongly disagree with the OJ Howard picks. I'm not opposed to grabbing a TE but not that early. Give me one in the mid rounds.

What I think is interesting is who we'd pick with the number one. I'd cross my fingers till they snap off for Myles Garrett. Holy Hell Flowers/Garrett would be ferocious.

What you're impressed with doesn't make a damn bit of difference. What does is what the Patriots think. And they clearly like Brissette, which is why they are fielding offers for Garoppolo. Otherwise, it would be a non-starter..

Myles Garrett supposedly wants to be in Dallas. So much so that he is supposedly pleading with them to move up to draft him..

Myles Garrett pleads with Cowboys to trade up to draft him

Trade down, unless there is an ap/ezekial/lynch type rb there to make tb12's last 4 years easier.

How can you say that. In order to justify your position, you have to tell me this. Name the college QB in this draft you'd take with a first round pick that is better than JG, and why? Simple

Watson gave up 17 picks this year to college DB's running a read option college offense. How many years is it going to take before he'll be as effective as JG....if at all.

Trubsiki - has started less than 15 games in college. When will be be able to read a pro defense....if at all.

Kinzer - Seems to have the most physical skills, but couldn't get ND to a .500 record. Though he seems to be the most likely to get a first round grade. Still how long before he's ready to lead a team to the playoffs....if at all

So it you are a team that needs a QB next year, who should you spend it on. One of these guys, who MAY get there down the road, or JG? Where is the best value for that pick???????????????

homer pick - jabril peppers.

mr. versatility!

If I were running the team and got pick #12 in return for JG, I would be hoping that Solomon Thomas or Reuben Foster fall. If they were unavailable, which is likely, I would trade down a handful of spots, pick up an extra 3 and a 6 - 7, and look at a Zach Cunningham or Taco Charlton.

I expect LB and CB early in this draft. Looking forward, it will be tough to keep both Butler and Hightower long term. Need to be prepared.

Christian mccaffrey. I doubt there has been a player more Patriots than he to ever enter the draft.

we have also never drafted someone so small at running back before. He's about 20lbs away from being a Pats running back.

I don't think he's close to the slam dunk that others seem to as a fit for us.

I think this drafts strength is in its depth. It's not top heavy like some previous drafts.

His best days must have come and gone Monday after they beat Atlanta because he was the best player in football in 2017, and you are apparently the only one who doesn't see that. We all realize that you have a hard on for Jimmy Garrapolo and want them to get rid of Brady so you can get to see your binky play, the Patriots however realize they have the greatest player of all time and he's playing like it, so they are getting rid Garrapolo if the offer is right, and they are going to extend Brady because they know he's their best player and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
