I live in GA, and wont be at the opener. I'd be happy to pay $20 somewhere to buy a shirt for someone - make it $25, do a 'buy one, donate one' thing where I get a shirt and another goes to the 'pool' to handout.

Buy the shirts on Alibaba or some cheap site like that, I bet you can get them cheap. Have to have volume though, otherwise it won't be impactful enough
Probably have to have portnoy on board because I supposed he has rights to the image.

The bolded is the problem.
Do you think if in the long shot that this got legs and was going to happen Kraft would deny it?
I think portnoy would kill for the publicity it would get. Do you think Kraft would stop him from handing them out outside the stadium?
I honestly don't know.

I'd love to find out.

I think it would depend on how far Kraft is willing to go. He jumps in the barrel every time there's an actual confrontation, so I don't have a lot of hope. But maybe Jonathan would sway him.

No, Kraft and the Pats need to stay out of this. Let it be a fans movement to keep the Pats from being the target of another witchance hunt, lame though that would be.

This exactly. I love it, and I love it even more that it's reportedly getting under Roger's skin, but everyone employed by the Pats and Kraft should have nothing to do with it. It should be a fan movement, exclusively. Pats employees of all stripes are under the thumb of the NFL and can be punished (however they see fit, as we learned), but fans? We're not beholden to anybody. You can bet the Patriots would say all the right things when asked about fans suddenly showing up to games in Roger-Clown shirts ("We're focused only on our jobs; we can't control what fans wear to the stadium."), but inside they would be gleefully enjoying it. From Wes Welker working the word "foot" into his press conference after the Rex Ryan revelations, from Brady's "Roger that" on a national commercial, from the t-shirt in the parade with the new ring on the middle finger, and from Kraft calling this win the sweetest "and you all know why" (wink), this team LOVES trolling their enemies.

Ditto, I'm in NY and won't be able to go to the opener, but this HAS to happen, would be the greatest thing in sports history (ok, Pats winning championships is greater). Ok maybe the greatest thing in fan participation ever, if this was ever pulled off. I'd love this !

Can you imagine opening night against the Falcons w/ Goodell in attendance 70,000 fans wearing the clown shirt?

This definitely needs to happen, at the fan-only level, with no participation from the team. Some enterprising fan needs to start the groundswell and it'd pick up really quickly. And T-shirts can be made very cheaply.

I can't see him supporting, funding and participating but I can't see him stopping it if someone else put it together.

I'd volunteer to go to the stadium and pass them out. I'm sure we can identify some high traffic areas that virtually everyone has to pass to get to the stadium, yet are not so close as to be under heavy scrutiny from staff.

It would be very cool if portnoy responds to my tweet.
Maybe someone more involved in twitter than I am could start pressing the idea.

Maybe @Ian would want to make it a site mission. I guarentee pats fans.com could raise the money needed in Gofundme and posters here would volunteer to hand them out outside the stadium.

Love the idea and if it happens it just shows how passionate we are as Fans at what unfair and unjust penalties were handed down by ****head.
As a side note this term CLOWNOUT makes for a very catchy fan chant also.

It works on many levels.
Everyone wearing the shirt makes the crowd a clownout lije a whiteout

Since goodell is going to be there clownout also represents get to f out, clown.

I doubt he has any rights that would actually be enforced in a court of law. It is already of dubious legality to use someone's likeness without their permission.

I bet that if someone made a copy of the image on t-shirts and Portnoy sued, Portnoy would lose because he can't claim a copyright on another individual's likeness without that individual's permission.

Maybe but portnoy is a psycho who hates goodell and would probably be the best advocate this idea could have.
Hell I bet he would foot a big chunk of the bill just for the publicity.

Oh don't get me wrong, I like the idea a lot. Although I expect Goodell to wuss out from attending opening night.

It only has to be a section of a couple of hundred people. or a percentage of the crowd wearing the t-shirt for it to work.
You think Kraft invites Bobo to the opening game?

Even better. Invited doesn't show and 50000 people are wearing the shirt that offends him.
