2017 Draft Prospect Thread

Jonnu Smith has some really sharp cuts in his pass patterns and is a very smooth (and quick) mover with ball in hand. I like him as a day three option.

*Quick Note*

If you're viewing this thread and think its too big just take a yoga breath and spend 30 min's and you'll be up to speed in no time.

There's a ton of info, gifs, players names, breakdowns etc in here.

I need to find some OLineman. WE cant expect to keep winning superbowls with an inconsistent running game and brady getting hit 20 times

You know you're a draftnik when on the Pats final drive of the 4th Q when Dion Lewis goes down injured, your first thought is not, "damn, I hope we can win", but instead is "well that locks McCaffrey into our first pick" :)

Congrats to all you draft forum guys. A momentous game.

I am not going to get into draft talk tonight but this game did make me reconsider a few things about this team and the order of needs. That talk will not happen tonight for me though.

TE is probably gunna be a need if Bennett leaves for big $. We're thin there rn but this class is actually loaded unlike years past when people had no idea. A double dip would not surprise me at all.

Oline needs some tweaking but we have some nice pieces. Mason was punching before setting his feet and looked very slow out of his stance at times but quicker guys have given him trouble before. I thought of Lamp more than a few times last night and think he's 1 of the first 3 OL taken this draft. Scarnecchia is back so I have all the faith in the world.

Not even bothering w/ the rest for now. Too much still to happen.

I agree TE and IOL need to be looked at closer. 100% sure Bennett walks and Gronk is not reliable. We can hope but who knows. TE is a need and I might take a high IOL but I don't worry enough about it yet to take it in the first 2 rounds. Maybe Atlanta's young DTs are that good and Mason who got beat has been okay besides that game really most of the year.

Also LB was exposed on some of those big runs. Slow and could not get to the spot or pick the right gap and Ryan played well again and probably walks. Also DE besides Flowers made almost no impact (Long drew a key hold though).

Also Blount is done. He wasn't amazing for much of the year anyway but clearly was worn down by this game. He won't be dependable moving forward. Thank him for his service but it is time for him to hang them up IMO.

MY top needs.

#1 CB
#2 LB
#3 TE
#4 DE
#5 1st down back
#6 IOL (the only reason it is not higher is idk how much was Grady playing great vs Mason just having holes in his game exposed... Also with such a young group you want to see what another year can do but you don't want to go in having to depend entirely on this group again with no other options).

I think that is where i stand at this moment

TE: mid round pick Adam Shaheen....Div 2 guy ... 6'7" 277lbs and quite mobile

RB is a big need if we don't address it via trade or FA

CB first? So you think that Cyrus Jones is not good if Logan Ryan goes away. Rowe has pretty good game too. I think CB postion is fine
LB. Maybe Elandon Roberts emerges next year in coverage. dont know if he can. What about Mingo. More DE?
TE. Yes i agree that they ll let Bennet walk. And i am fine with that. But if he was really injured than maybe stays, if he is valauble to BB. What about future contract TE Housler and maybe big receiver Floyd. They need blocking TE so Mike Williams is back or Lengel emerges.
DE Sheard and Long arent super good so probably they need one trough draft.
RB Dont know about Blount, but this draft is good with RBs so ...

Oline Interesting that Mason was abused. In last games he was great and everyone writing how good he become in pass pro. This games he had some problems, but have to wait for film review. Ii still think that Andrews is weak link. No run game at the start really concerns me about how good our Oline really is. Some ppl said that Atlanta was mixing that Dline in unusual ways.

Hey Manx. HAve a question for you. Werent you big fan of Grady Jerret. DO you know what is going on with another binky of yours. Marcus Hardison?

Cyrus Jones, Elandon Roberts and Lengel aren't solutions. They are role players and not starters as of this point and if the plan next year is to depend on them to be bigger parts of the team i question that plan. Maybe they emerge but I don't go in with that as plan A.

This should not all be done through draft. Too much to fill from there. FA will play a big part.

Also I put CB and LB first as those spots need true starters. TE we have Gronk who needs a good back up by MAYBE he plays all year... maybe... DE we have Flowers who will be stud next year and can fill in meh players besides him like we did this year (not on purpose but it worked out that way) and it will be okay but he needs to stay healthy.

RB #1 matters but honestly I am just not high on RBs. They can find someone. IOL is an unknown but there are concerns. Maybe we bring everyone back next year and it improves. We at least have a representative starting group.

Quickly becoming enamored with the center from Ohio state. I love big 10 linemen

I think defensive line is our biggest need. Alan Branch might retire. Chris Long and Sheard are free agents. I'd like to draft a 4-3 DE very early. And, get a DT in 3rd. And, signing Branch or a NFL Veteran FA if he leaves/retires. We ask a lot of our defensive linemen. They just can't shoot a gap and make/miss a play.

After the game, I think it's clear that ILB is the biggest possible upgrade spot. Rueben Foster is better in coverage and defending the run sideline to sideline than Van Noy/Roberts/McCellin. We have a chance to make that position go from a liability to a strength with the Jimmy G pick.

Trade up from 12 to 8 or 9 if we need to for Foster. I can't really think of any other spot on the team besides power RB that could be upgraded significantly (A rotation of JAGs across Flowers worked this season at DE and could work again next year I suppose).

This draft is going to make next year's team incredible.

I like Foster, but I'd rather trade down several slots from 12 (if we get the Browns pick) and grab Reddick. He's just as physically talented, and he'd instantly be our best coverage backer. He has more inside/outside flexibility, and his blitz ability is off the charts. If we got either one for free, I probably go Foster, although it would be close; given the draft capital we'd likely have to give up, however, Reddick seems like far better value.

He certainly was. I don't think Hardison has done much yet however.
